Disclaimer: It's been a while, but nothing's changed, I still do not own Fruits Basket.

Authors Note: I'm warning you, I have massive amounts of schoolwork and I'm the top of my class and striving for valedictorian. Updates will be inconsistent and most likely VERY spread out until after May. They'll also be short (sorry).

Book of the Cat II

Chapter 1

There's a sensation you feel when you're half asleep. You can hear people walking around you, or talking to each other. Yet, you don't need to answer them, you can still feign sleep. You might hear some music weaving itself in and out of your dreams if someone is playing a radio near by. And the songs are peaceful and familiar. You can even reach out and turn the alarm clock off when it starts to ring without ever really waking up.

That's what the red-haired boy felt like. Except, instead of listening to the conversations of people, he heard the harsh, rough mumbling of voices he knew couldn't be human. And instead of hearing music, he heard screams that caused his skin to crawl and his spine to shake. And the alarm clock just wouldn't turn off.

But most of all, he felt pain, and he wished to the gods, or whatever was out there, that the pain would go away.

He also wished he could just wake up.

But that seemed much more distant than the soft chirping of birds one might hear when one lies in bed, drifting back into sweet unconsciousness.

Author's Note: It's a start.
