Chapter 1

It was raining hard that night as a little boy finally made his escape from the hell he had been locked away in. It didn't matter if his whole body screamed in pain, he ignored it. All the child cared about was finding some kind of sanctuary. Despite being only ten years old the boy was bright, he was also a survivor. With his small little blue backpack that held everything he owned he ran off into the dark streets. Once he was far enough from the house he finally slowed his pace and allowed his body to relax a little as he continued down the neighborhood. It didn't take him long to reach the bus stop that he hoped would send him far away from this place. Tossing his backpack onto the bench, the child plants himself next to his belongings. He rubbed his tired dark brown eyes as the cold and heavy rain made him shiver almost violently against the harsh weather. Glancing at his little wrist watch that his dad had gotten him when he had started to learn how to tell time the boy could see that it was already midnight. He knew that another bus wouldn't arrive here until early morning and was prepared for a long night of being cold, wet, and miserable.

With an exhausted sigh the young boy lays his body across the bench and uses his backpack for a pillow. Although he had on a red hoodie, it wouldn't give him any warmth against this kind of weather.

"Okasan, Otosan" Tsukune whimpers sadly.

As the child tried to sleep in futile a bright light made his eyes suddenly snap wide open. He quickly sits up and stares completely stunned at the school bus that is now parked right in front of him. The door opens and a strange looking man smiles at him. "Tsukune Aono?"

Tsukune blinks. "Depends who's asking" He tries to sound strong, but the truth was he was terrified. His parents had always taught him to be cautious around strangers.

A mischievous grin crosses his features as he smoked away on his cigar. "Would you like to go somewhere amazing? It can be pretty scary, but I think someone like you could survive" The bus driver asks.

"Why me?" Tsukune questions.

The bus driver shrugs. "You could just stay here and enjoy the rest of this fine weather" He answers sarcastically.

Tsukune looks down at the ground as he started to think about the dangers that could lay ahead by tagging along with a man he didn't even know. On the one hand he couldn't be worse than anything he has already been through since his parents were murdered. He finally looks up at the stranger with piercing brown eyes. "I'll come" He answers as he grabs ahold of his backpack and swings it over his shoulder.

The bus driver let's out his creepy laugh when Tsukune steps into the bus as he shuts the door. "Wonderful, next stop Yokai Academy"

Tsukune's eyes go wide. "Yokai?!" Just what has Tsukune gotten himself into now?
