Author's Note: Hi everyone! This is the first fic I've uploaded, though not the first one I've written. This fic is based on the Anime Blood+ as I have never read the manga. I was most intrigued by Haji, (Besides he is so unbelievably cool!) so this is about him, about his life when Saya sleeps. This story takes place after Diva is defeated and Saya has gone to sleep. This happens right before Kai takes the twins to visit Saya.

Disclaimer: Blood plus (the save changes button is spazing and won't let me type the name correctly, but for some reason has no problem with it in the Author's Note), its characters and plot do not belong to me. Trust me; I would not be slaving away to get into Medical School if it did.

And without further delay, here it is...

With a sharp click, Haji opened the cello case. He pulled the instrument out, and its metal leg tapped against the crypt floor. Sitting on the low stone wall, he leaned the cello against his leg, set the bow to the strings, and played the song Saya had taught him so long ago.

His fingers traveled the length of the neck and his bandaged hand directed the bow with precision. Closing his eyes, Haji felt her pulsing within the cocoon. Saya would awaken soon. He pulled against the strings again, unveiling a particularly deep note. He didn't know what would happen when Saya woke up. For so long their lives had been a constant battle against chiropteran. Now Diva was dead, along with her Chevalier. The few chiropterans left in the world had gone into hiding. Occasionally, one would crop up, but without a living Diva, they were no longer immune to wounds.

Haji didn't bother with them. He assumed the disbanded Red Shield, spread throughout the world, would take care of it. He stayed in Okinawa, watching over Saya as he always had.

Would she be happy? Living for herself and with those she loved, would she thrive? Haji was certain she would. Lowering his head in shy bliss, he recalled his declaration of love to her. She had kissed him and said she wanted to live with him. Haji's lips turned up in a small smile. She had even accepted his chiropteran form.

The song ended, and he sat back as a new thought crossed his mind. Silently, he placed the cello back into its case before going inside. Saya hair had grown out, drifting in the liquid. Haji stared at her and then at his chiropteran hand. Why is my chiropteran form so human-like? Diva's Chevalier had complete monster forms; why don't I? Not that he was complaining, but he was curious. The differences probably stemmed from Saya who was so unlike Diva in both personality and power. He was even beginning to wonder if they were truly chiropterans as they had always believed.

A steady tread of footsteps broke his musing. Taking one last look at Saya, he pulled a rose from his jacket and bent down. Tying the blue ribbon from the wilted flower to the new one, Haji set the flower down. Then he exited the crypt, grabbed his case, and leapt into the trees, just as Kai and the twins reached the top of the stairs.

What did you think? Love it? Hate it? I'm an aspiring writer so any comment is fine. Flames are welcome as I am a bit of a pyromaniac. :) I love constructive criticism and applause as well. If you want to comment, push the purple button and make me happy.

Also, if anyone wants to expand on the idea of Saya and Haji being...well...not like the other Chiropterans, I'm totally fine with it, but I would appreciate it if you told me you are going to so I can read it. O yeah, I also made up the idea of the chiropteran not being immortal without diva. If this idea is not new to Blood+ fics, I'm very sorry, I haven't come across any fics with this idea before.

Until next time,
