This is a TVD one-shot involving Stefan and Elena. While writing this piece, I was listening to Never Let Me Go by Florence and the Machine hence the name of this story.
He stared at the porcelain cup in her hands, rubbing her fingers to collect the warmth that radiates off of it. A sudden popping sound emerges as he leans her neck to one side, cracking it while letting out all the tension from the previous events that occurred today. His mind is a maze, filled with numerous tunnels and passages towards his mysterious personality. Though he tries to block it out, the pain from his father's phone call still resides in his heart due to the harsh words spoken. The café seems to be in the background while he doesn't notice the laughter and smiles that surround him by other customers. He closes his eyes momentarily to block out all of the noises of the world including the ringing noise of the entrance door opening. He doesn't notice her as he walks in unlike everybody else. Their eyes swoon over her figure, starting with the chocolate-colored hair through her delicate features and then on her glorious body with the right curves. Suddenly, he realizes that he can't escape his torture and opens his eyes and his sight revels her to him. His forest eyes roam over her as he crunches his forehead in confusion. She seems familiar and known to him, yet he has no recollection of meeting or forgetting this girl. Her beauty seems to catch everybody's attention yet he notices her exhausted face while she orders a tea the counter. She doesn't seem to realize that she has grabbed the wandering eyes of most of the room but instead sighs as she finds herself a seat at the bar. The soft sound of the spoon hitting against the cup allows her to take a deep breath and focus on her surroundings, not her troublesome problems. She feels a pair of eyes staring deeply towards her and turns around only to meet by his eyes. Her eyes widen in surprise as she looks at his familiar and handsome face. His features are firm yet compassionate as his green eyes stare into her chocolate, beady ones. She feels her façade dropping just by his presence. He notices how when she stares back, he feels quite innocent and open for the whole world to see. His barrier that took years to form just fell down by her face as hers because of him. Most of the crowd turns back to their companions and differ their attention from her except from him. While running a hand through his sandy hair, he decides to be bold and make a move while taking control of his pathetic life as his father says. She watches curiously as he picks up his briefcase and his coffee cup and accompanying saucer. Her eyes narrow while she watches him walk over to her with a gentle smile on his romantic face. A blush forms on her almond cheeks as he picks the seat next to her.
"Hello," he says with a low, yet firm and comforting voice.
"Hello," she responds back with a small smirk arising from her rosy, red lips.
"I'm Stefan," he replies watching intently as his smile too is replaced by a smirk.
"Elena, nice to meet you Stefan".
