"Alright!" Sonic shouted out as he ran through the woods.

It was finally Winter break for the blue blur, 10 years of age.

He was doing what he did best; running

meanwhile, only a matter of miles away, a young, 11-year old fox that had two tails was tinkering with his newest gadget.

"Just one more adjustment... and finished!" he said.

"Hey, Miles, what's that you made?" came a voice from behind.

Miles froze in shock. It was Kisuny. A female fox bully who loved to see Miles in misery

"Wha-what are you talking about?!" Miles said as he tried to cover up his invention.

"That." said Kisuny as she pointed to a strap that poked out from under Miles' arm.

"Ugh... please, leave me alone for once..." Miles said

Kisuny suddenly rushed forward and grabbed the invention before Miles could react

"NO!" Miles shouted, but Kisuny already dropped it and crushed it with her foot.

Kisuny left the scene swiftly as she said "Sorry, freak."

Miles had grown used to the routine. He builds an invention, Kisuny destroys it, calls him a freak, and leaves.

But then something happened...

As Miles went to clean up the mess made by the broken machine, a blue streak passed by with a big gust of wind that blew the pieces of tech away.

"Woah..." said Miles

He followed the streak far through the woods until he saw something that amazed him.

A plane. The plane was red with the name "Sonic" on it.

Miles noticed that the wheel was slightly off and checked it out. Definitely broken.

Miles went back to his home in the woods and grabbed his toolbox. He returned to where the plane was and started fixing the plane. By the time he finished, someone tapped him on the shoulder.

"WAAH!" Miles cried out in exasperation

"Woah, calm down there, dude!" Sonic said

"Oh... I'm sorry... was this yours?" Miles apologized

"Yeah, but, it's cool. In fact, It's better! Thanks, bud!" Sonic said

"Oh, it was just a broken wheel. So I'm presuming you're 'Sonic'?" Miles said

"Yeah, nice to meet ya. What's your name?" Sonic said as he helped Miles up.

"My name is Miles..." Miles replied

"Hmm... sounds like a dull name..." Sonic said

"Hey!" Miles said defensively

"I think I'll call you Tails!" Sonic said in reply

"Hey, I like that!" Tails replied

"So, Tails, Would you like to come hang out with me?" Sonic said

"Hang out? Yeah, sure. Just as long as it's at your place. Mine is kinda a dump." Tails said

"Dump? Do you live here in the woods?" Sonic asked

"Yeah..." Tails said "And it bugs me, since there's no doors, and anyone can come in... like this girl that always bullies me..."

"Hey, why don't you grab your stuff and stay with me? I've got an extra bedroom. Two actually, since my brother and sister moved out a long time ago to live in Central City." Sonic said

"As strange as it sounds, yeah!" Tails said

And so, the two lived together and became best friends. Along the way, they met Knuckles and Amy, and they all became a team.
