Um, hi. I'm Ari. This is my first story so please be nice. You can be mean if you want. It doesn't really affect me either way. I'm also in special education, so I don't know many big words. My cousin will be helping me though. It is based off a friend of mine's story. She goes by Twi Rinku now. This is a twist of her story Essence. So, I hope you like it.
Chapter 1
~Link's Pov~
I land down on the surface safely. I'm somewhere near what we call the Great Tree. I needed to bring more supplies down from Skyloft to the camp we have set up on the surface. More and more people are coming down and setting up. Mostly in Faron woods. Once the population grows, we'll spread out more. I start walking to the camp when I see someone on the ground in the distance. All I see is red. My first thought, Ghirahim. My heart is starting to race more than it already was. Do I approach? What if it is Ghirahim? What do I do? I wouldn't be able to handle him on my own. Hmm…. I get closer, set the supplies down, draw out my sword and move closer. The closer I get, the more it doesn't seem like Ghirahim. Someone with blonde hair and a green tunic. The red was from a cape they wore. I kneel down next to the person and nudge their arm.
"Um, uh, hello? Can you hear me?" No reply comes. "Oh goddess, what do I do…?" I stand up and start running to the camp. "Zelda! Zelda come quick!" I make it to the camp and I find Zelda. "Zel-Zelda…" I'm out of breath by the time I reach her.
"Link, what happened?! What's wrong?!"
"Th-There's someone… passed out… I don't know if they're ok or not… but I need your help."
"Let's go find Groose first and then show us."
"Ok." Zelda and I quickly look around for Groose and eventually find him near the Goddess Statue in the Sacred Grounds.
"Groose, Link and I need your help."
"Anything for you guys. What is it?" Zelda turned to me.
"There was someone I found who was passed out. I didn't know what to do so I came to get some help. I found Zelda and she suggested we find you so I can show both of you."
"Alright, lead the way." I take off in a run toward where I remember the person being. They follow after me. I notice out of the corner of my eyes, people are looking at us weirdly, but I don't care. I want to help that person. We make it to where I remember that person being. They're still there, but seemed to have moved a little, so they are probably still alive. Zelda kneels down next to the person and so does Groose. He manages to turn the person over and onto their back. Zelda's eyes widen and Groose falls backward.
"Uh, hey Link…" Groose says.
"What?"
"This person… he looks just like you…"
"What? That… that can't be…" I look at the person and he definitely looks like me. My eyes widen.
"Just who is this person?"
"We need to get him to professor Owlan. Look, his stomach." His stomach had a really large gash in it. He looked really pale and thin. I saw his eyelids were twitching when Zelda spoke. "Groose, do you think you could carry him?"
"Of course."
"Good. Link, go on ahead and let Professor Owlan know to get a bed ready. You're faster than either of us."
"Alright." I take off running through the forest until I make it back to the camp. I get stopped by the Headmaster.
"Link, what's going on. Where have you been running around to?"
"I'll explain later. Where's professor Owlan?"
"He went off into the forest to look at different plants to see if any would be of use. Do you need him?"
"I was on my way here with some supplies and I found someone who was passed out on the ground. I came here to get help. Zelda and Groose came with me back to the person. He seems very badly injured and needs medical attention. Owlan is trained in that kind of stuff, so…"
"Alright. Professor Horwell should be of some help. He is currently in the medical tent as we speak."
"Ok. Thank you Headmaster Gaepora." I run off to the Medical tent and I find Professor Horwell there, just as the Headmaster said.
"Hello Link. Are you alright? You look rather pale."
"I'm fine. Could you get a bed ready?"
"Whatever for?"
"I was on my way back when I found a collapsed man. I came here to get help. Zelda and Groose came back with me, Groose is currently carrying the person here and Zelda told me to find someone to get a bed ready. He seems very injured."
"Ok. I will get the bed ready. Go find Fledge, so he can help." I nodded and left the tent. I've been doing a lot of running around. I found Fledge standing near the entrance to the temple of the Sacred Grove.
"Fledge, hey."
"Oh, Link, hi." He turned his head and then put a hand on my forehead. "Well, you don't have a fever. Are you feeling alright?"
"Yeah, I've just been doing a lot of running. Professor Horwell needs your help in the medical tent."
"Oh. Ok. Make sure to take care of yourself too."
"You don't have to look after me. I've lived 22 years. I'm sure I know how to take care myself by now."
"I still worry big brother. You're reckless. See you later." Fledge walked away. I start walking to find Groose and Zelda. I spot them eventually. They aren't too far from the camp.
"I talked to Horwell instead. He and Fledge are getting a bed ready."
"Ok." We walked the rest of the way until we got to the medical tent.
"I just finished getting the bed ready. Go ahead and get the boy down." Groose set him down on the bed and Horwell got to work. He was ordering us around, getting this and that and eventually he had to be moved to another bed because that one had too much blood on it. Zelda left to go take care of it. Groose went with her to protect her. There are still a few stray bokoblins wandering around. Fledge went to get more water and then Horwell was finished. "Whew, that took a lot. The child may be a little woozy for a while when he wakes up. Would you stay with him, I am going to report to Headmaster Gaepora. Fledge should be back soon with some water."
"Alright." Professor Horwell nodded and then left. I sat down next the man. It's weird how much he looks like me. The hair is different. It's lighter. Fledge had walked in with some water in a large bowl.
"Hey. How is he?"
"He still hasn't woken up. It's strange though. He seems familiar in a way."
"Yeah, you two look awfully similar as well."
"You see that too?" Fledge nodded and set the water bowl down and sat next to me.
"Maybe he's a long lost relative of yours. Maybe your dad. They never found his body." I shook my head.
"He looks too young to be my dad. Also, Professor Horwell said I look mostly like my mom. Though, I do get a familiar vibe from him. Like I've met him before."
"You could always ask him when he wakes up." I see the person's eyelids start twitching and start to open his eyes. His eyes are a sky blue, just like mine…
"H-Hey." I can tell he's confused. "Um… Fledge, go get professor Horwell and tell him he's woken up." Fledge nodded, got up and ran out of the tent. "Are you in any pain?" He lightly shook his head. "Alright. My name's Link." He opened his mouth slightly, probably to speak, but no sound came out. He probably doesn't have enough strength yet. "Don't push yourself, alright? If you don't rest, you'll never get better. That's what Zelda would always say. She's my friend and filled with much wisdom. You'll like her, I'm sure." I heard the tent door thingy open and I turn. "Speak of the demon lord, there she is. Hey, Zelda."
"Hi Link. How's the- oh he's awake." She walked over. "It's great to see you're awake, that means we got you here just in time. I'm Zelda. Link and I will take good care of you, so don't worry." He seemed to mutter something under his breath, but I didn't hear what he said.
"So…" I have no idea what to say now. I see a sadness in his eyes though. I didn't notice it until now. The tent flap opens and Horwell walks in with Fledge and Gaepora.
"How is he?"
"He's tried speaking, but he can't get the strength to say anything."
"I see." The Headmaster walks up to the foot of the bed.
"Well, child, you're in safe hands. Once you gain more strength, I highly encourage you to tell us what you can." He nodded.
"Father, should we take him to Skyloft sometime."
"Maybe once he gains more strength." Zelda nodded. The guy tried to sit up, but couldn't quite.
"Hey, don't push yourself." He looked into my eyes for a second.
"Fine." His voice was light but very hoarse. Probably because he was still recovering. He laid back down. Hmm, he listens to me for some reason. And why did he look at me like that? It almost seemed like seeing me, he felt sad and worried. I heard someone come running in and it was Pipit.
"Link, come quickly, there's a ton of bokoblins that showed up out of nowhere."
"What?!" I stand up. "Lead the way." I follow Pipit and he leads me to where he saw them, right where I had found that man. I drew my sword and started running. In one stroke, I was able to send three of them back and they exploded in purple smoke like they usually do. I heard a sword swipe nearby and I knew Pipit was helping me in the fight.
"Link, behind you! Move!" I feel someone grab the back of my tunic and lift me up. "Link!"
"Oh, such a sweet boy, trying to help your little friend here. Sorry kid, this sky child is all mine." I know that voice all too well and it always gives me shivers when I hear it… I'm suddenly tossed aside and I collide with what I think is a wall. I get up and quickly look around. I'm surrounded by one of Ghirahim's diamond walls. I stand on my feet and draw my weapon. Ghirahim appears before me.
"How are you still alive?" I ask.
"Oh, I have my ways. Now Sky Child, tell me, how are you?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Um…"
"It's just a simple question." He's going to say something like, 'well it won't last, I guarantee you that. I did promise to make you deaf by the shrill sound of your own screams.' Or he'll say something else completely sadistic and then he and I will fight to the death and then one thing leads to another I'm still alive but barely and he disappears.
"I guess I'm alright…"
"Good. That's a good thing, right?" Ok, what the hell?!
"I guess…?" What happened to the psycho freaky Ghirahim who does that freaky tongue thing and has those red glowing throwing dagger things and LICKS HIS BLADE EVERY SINGLE TIME HE HITS ME! What the hell is going on?! I am seriously wigged out right now!
"Good. I hope that toss didn't harm you at all." Ok, this day is officially very weird…
