I really want to thank Mirkwood Warrior who helped me find elvish websites. In this story Legolas is 1000 (10 in human years) and the elf (no spoilers ;) ) is 900 years old (9 in human years). I do not own Lord of the Rings even though I'd love too. I only own the characters I've made up.

"This is the life!" thought Legolas lying down on his bed. The pile of papers which were supposed to be his punishment, his quilt and ink bottle were on the desk some metres away from him. His room was very big and his things were all lying around. His Junior Archers' bow was on the floor, as well as his arrows. On the wall in front of his bed, was a picture of an elf that looked much like him, though not exactly. He was wearing a crown made of branches, leaves and flowers. That elf was the king of Mirkwood, his father. Legolas picked up his bow, fastened an arrow, measured his target and shot. It hit the picture straight in the king's nose. "Better than last time." he thought remembering the last shot which had hit the crown.

He heard footsteps in the corridor. With a swift movement, he put down his bow and arrows, ran to the desk and began to write before the door opened. An angry looking elf stormed in. "I hope you are writing your punishment!" he said when he saw Legolas "'I will not put a hole in the king's throne and a bucket of mud underneath again' 5,000,000 times" he reminded him. "I am ada!" said Legolas giving him his innocent look. The king left and shut the door behind him. Legolas poked his tongue out at the door and left the desk again. He took the arrow off the picture and lay down again. "I will put a hole in the king's throne and a bucket of mud underneath!" he said to himself and giggled as he lay on the bed again. "Oh yes I will!"

As long as all he got was a small punishment, pranking his father was his entire life! He lived to play tricks on him. He loved watching him run around yelling at him, trying to find him. He would hide in his favourite secret hiding spot and laugh to himself. One day, when he was twenty years old, he had found the spot while he and his father were playing hide and seek. The king didn't find him and Legolas snuck up behind him and gave him a fright. That started it all. From that day on, he would give him frights every day! And after he did, he would go and hide inside the armor in the corridor. Now, he was 1000 and he still wasn't bored of it!

He reached his hand out and took hold of a glass of Mirkwood wine. He had stolen some from the cellar a week ago. Boy, his father had great taste in wine. Drinking at his age wasn't exactly forbidden, but parents kept wine away from young elves until they were 1600 years old. Legolas never understood why. "Something about getting drunk I suppose." he said to himself and took a sip.

He was definitely living the big life! He lived in a palace, with no siblings so he had it almost all to himself, with just one parent, servants, a fun daily basis and he was a prince. Who could ask for more? Most of the time, other elves were jealous of him. But sometimes, they asked him questions like "Don't you get bored doing the same thing every day?" or "Don't you ever think just having a dad is boring?" He had the same answer for both questions, no! He never got bored of pranking his dad or shooting arrows at his picture. He never thought just having his father was boring. Maybe that was because he didn't remember ever having a mother.

According to his father, she had left to go to Valinor and abandoned them when he was just a baby. His dad thought it was because they had never really wanted to get married and they did because of the pressure of their parents. So after two thousand years of marriage and having a child, she decided to leave Middle Earth and sail to the West. Legolas remembered nothing of her and his dad hardly ever mentioned her. "Who cares?" he thought as he had another sip. Then, realising it was quite late, he finished his glass of wine, went to the desk and continued writing.

Yeah so this chapter is kind of short. It's a prologue really and I just wanted to introduce Legolas. Review please!
