I Don't Dance

Quick notification before I start: I don't own Shugo Chara. I thought of this when I was listening to "I Don't Dance" by Lee Brice. I don't own that song or that artist. I do want to say that that song is amazing and I love it and Lee Brice is amazing as well. He is awesome! Oh, and everyone is there usual age in this, just so you know.

Amu was in the dance room by herself practicing her dance routine. She was skillfully moving her body to the beat of the song. She was spinning and twirling in perfect precision.

Unknown to her Ikuto was silently watching from the door way. He very much enjoyed watching her angelic body gracefully move in perfect sync to the music. He inched is way in and found a chair close to the door and continued to watch her until the song ended.

When it did end he started to clap. Amu swiveled around with a shocked and startled expression on her face. Once she realized who it was she instantly blushed, looked away, and crossed her arms.

"Were you there the whole time?" She inquired while glancing at him. He ceased his clapping and got up from his seat. He stalked over to her and she tensed at his closeness.

"No, but, I saw most of it." He replied as he leaned in really close to her face. He gazed into her honey-golden eyes and got lost. He snapped out of his stupor when her face burned and she turned around with her back to him.

"You are such a perv! Why would you sit there and watch me?!" She hollered, her back still facing him. He retracted and smirked at her childishness.

"Well I thought you were good." That was an understatement. He knew she was better than 'good'. She was fantastic, magnificent, amazing, but, he wouldn't tell her that. She looked at him over her shoulder questioningly.

"Really? You think I'm good?" Ikuto couldn't help but allow a small smile. He nodded and turned her around so she faced him.

"Yes, you were very good," he paused and took her hands in his and continued "But, I want to show you how to slow dance." Her face lit up a brilliant red but didn't try to push him away. Ikuto took that as a good sign.

"H-How did you figure I couldn't slow dance?" She stuttered while voicing her question; obviously embarrassed. Ikuto grinned and placed one of her hands on his shoulder and held the other. He could feel her shiver as he put his unoccupied hand on the small of her back.

"It's pretty obvious. You put all of your time into that type of dance and you cut out all of the rest." He retorted matter-of-factly. She flushed and hesitantly shrugged her agreement. "Shall we begin, Strawberry?" He asked slyly.

"Ikuto!" She yelled and flushed once more. "Don't call me that." She mumbled as she looked down at her feet, something about them seemed very interesting right now. Ikuto chuckled at her and shook his head.

He took the first step backward and she did the same, suddenly very confused at what she was supposed to do. He tried clearing up her confusion by saying, "here, follow my lead." He tried stepping backwards again hoping she would follow.

"Like this?" And she stepped forward trying to follow his long-legged stride. He took a couple more steps that she slightly stumbled on. Then a few more, and more till they were delicately gliding around the whole room. Finally, Amu got confident enough to stop looking down at her feet and look at Ikuto instead.

Ikuto currently had his eyes closed as he drifted around the room with Amu. She looked up at his calm, unguarded face and smiled. 'He looks so relaxed. Mmmm I kind of want to touch him…' Her thoughts were interrupted by two sapphire orbs staring back at her.

"See anything you like, Strawberry?" Her face burned a deep red and quickly looked away. Ikuto took his hand from her back and spun her in a circle. She started giggling and was pulled back into a rather solid chest. "I love it when you smile." He stated through a smile of his own. Amu's cheeks tinged a pink because she was genuinely shocked by his words and didn't know what to say. She decided to change the subject.

"I didn't know you liked to dance." She stated and his face took on a mischievous look and he lowered his head to her ear while they proceeded to dance.

"There's a lot you don't know about me." He whispered and lightly bit her ear. She flinched but, managed to keep herself from screaming in surprise. "I don't dance often, you know. Just for you."

Amu flushed before spotting a clock in the corner of the room and it read '9:48'. She sighed and thought 'wow, I've spent this much time dancing with him?! Aaaaaaawwww man… Mom's going to kill me'. "Ikuto, I've got to go." She asserted and tried to pull herself away. Ikuto fell silent and held her in place. She couldn't see his face because it was still in very close proximity to hers. "Ikuto?" Then he finally released her. Ikuto stayed silent.

Amu backed away slowly and grabbed her bag and radio. She slid over to the door. "Ya know, Ikuto, I had a good time… uhhh dancing with you, I mean." She said and her cheeks brushed a light pink and she turned to face the door. "We should do it again sometime." And before he could respond she ran out of the door leaving a content Ikuto alone in the dance room.

Amu was getting into her pajamas after a nice, hot bath and a warm glass of milk. When she was done she sat at her desk and tried finishing up some paperwork for the guardians. She was having difficulties concentrating because her charas were giving her a thorough interrogation about what happened in the dance room with Ikuto. She answered as calmly as she could.

"No, Ran we didn't do anything. Ok?" She retorted while looking at her cheery pink chara. "We danced. That was all." She proceeded and looked back at the question that she knew wouldn't be completed while her charas were still bugging her.

"Are you sure, ~desu?" Suu continued. Amu looked at her exasperatedly.

"Yes! I'm sure! Quit bugging me!" She screamed. She huffed and looked back at her papers. "Go to bed and leave me alone, ok!" She scribbled a random answer on the lines and jumped into bed.

"She's lying." Amu could hear Miki murmur to the others. Amu just groaned loudly and pulled the covers up over her head. She heard her charas giggle and float over to their eggs.

Amu was nearly asleep when she heard a tapping at her balcony door. She peered over her covers to the balcony. Ikuto was behind the glass threshold in denim jeans, a hoodie, and a cross necklace. She got up and went to open the door.

"What are you doing here, Ikuto?" She asked him once he stepped inside. He walked past her and sat on her bed making himself comfortable.

"Well, you said that you wanted to dance again and I might not have the time to indulge you, so, I thought we could just do it now." He said nonchalantly while leaning back on his elbows. She considered it for a moment.

"Ok, I guess." He smirked and got up. They arranged themselves the proper way and instead of actually moving around they swayed. Once she found the rhythm of their sway she relaxed and leaned in and lied her head on his chest. She could feel his steady breathing and hear his even heartbeat. Ba-dump… Ba-dump… She let a smile pull at the corners of her mouth.

"Amu?" There was a reason Ikuto came here, and it wasn't just to dance with her. He had a plan the whole time; when he was dancing with her in the dance room, while he was dancing with her now, he was plotting to confess. He didn't want to stall anymore, he knew that this opportunity wouldn't last long so decided to get on with it.

"Hmmmm?" Was her short, quiet reply. She was comfortable and didn't want to move. She was also extremely exhausted, she could fall asleep right in his arms. Their bodies were softly pressed together and neither were at all bothered.

"I actually came to confess." He responded just as quietly as her. He rested his head on top of hers as they continued to sway.

"Confess to what? Stealing a cookie out of the cookie jar?" she mumbled in to his chest. He smiled at her response and rubbed his nose into her hair and inhaled the sweet sent.

"No, dear Strawberry," He paused, pulled away and dipped her prolonging his sentence while looking into her wide eyes. "I have come to tell you that you have and continue to dance away with my heart." She opened her mouth to say something but before she did he captured her lips with his. He closed his eyes savoring the kiss and moved his lips against hers. When he had to pull away for oxygen he opened his eyes.

"Ikuto…" Amu was in a daze. Her mind was spinning out of control confirming that she was not on planet Earth. She blinked a couple of times trying to wrap her mind around the fact she had been confessed to and kissed in the last five minutes. She failed miserably.

Ikuto raised an eyebrow as he tried to decipher what she was feeling. He couldn't tell. He started to worry, 'oh no,' he thought 'did I break her?'

He brought her up from the dip and sat her on the bed. He was thinking about leaving but, wanted to make sure that she was ok. "Amu?" She giggled at him. Now he was scared. "Amu, are you alright?" She giggled again and this time she put her hand to his cheek and surprisingly brought her lips to his. It was brief much to Ikuto's disappointment but he enjoyed it none the less.

She pulled away and whispered against his lips, "let's dance." And that's what they did. She got up, wrapped her arms around his neck and his slipped around her waist. They danced the rest of the night and into the morning without a care in the world.
