Disclaimer – I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh, Duel Monster card game, nor the overused idea for the story – just the little plot twists and my OC's.
A/N – I can't believe I wrote the previous version of this story. It was just… shit. You guys, the reviewers – how can you guys be so kind!? I mean- I couldn't even shift through this story without cringing at every word and wailing.
Thank you, so much.
I know my descriptions aren't exactly top-notch, but I'm still trying to improve. So please, tell me how and also, please tell me if this chapter is better than the previous ones.
Thanks a lot,
SweetPearl.
P.S – I'm still sorry to ShadowclanWarrior – I of course had no intention of stealing your amazing story, but I kinda got the idea from yours, and that's the reason that it was so similar to yours. I'm really trying to erase the similarities, and hopefully I'll succeed.
P.P.S – I'm only rewriting this story because I want to start publishing in again, and I just don't want to delete the reviews, neither to keep this shit on my profile for everyone to see.
Just so you know, this story won't continue after chapter five, I'm sorry and I know no one really cares, but I'm just saying.
"Alice!" I felt my sleep getting lighter with the sound of someone screaming. Who's screaming like this? I thought, frowning. I attempted to sleep again, but the person screaming had other plans. She continued to scream and my efforts to ignore the person and go back to sleep turned futile as the door of my room burst open.
"A-L-I-C-E!" I jumped upward in my bed, narrowly escaping a surely painful trip to the floor and glared up at the criminal. Sadly, it was my fuming older sister.
"What's wrong now, Riza? I'm trying to sleep, you know…" I trailed off, muffling a big yawn. "You sometime act like you're three, man…" I rubbed my eyes sleepily and took a look at the clock.
"C'mon, it's only six-o-clock and a weekend. Damn, you ruined my sleep." I yawned again, this time making no effort to conceal it. At the same time, my dear big sister decided to tug at my earlobe violently and a searing pain spread throughout my whole outer ear, making me howl in pain.
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR!? DAMN IT, RIZA! YOU RUINED MY SLEEP AND NOW YOU'RE DESTROYING MY EAR-" I was suddenly interrupted as a loud cough came from the entrance. I stopped mid-bickering and gulped. Here it goes… One… Two…
"Alice, you should try to be nice to your sister!" ...Three. My mother scolded, and Riza watched with a victorious expression. I rolled my eyes and scowled, protesting,
"But-"
"Alice, your sister was trying to wake you up earlier because it's your birthday." My mother deadpanned.
"If it's my birthday, I should have been allowed to sleep until noon, at least- Wait… did you just say, today's my birthday…?" I looked at them with the hugest eyes a human being can make. My mother sighed.
"No shit, it's your death day." My sister said while face-palming, and I crossed my arms with a huff. But unfortunately, we both forgot to take into account our 'lovely, religious and proper' mother. And such-
"Riza! Mind your language! And do not say such unholy things!" My mother reprimanded with her eyes narrowed and comical fumes coming from her ears.
I smirked at my now-very-irritated sister trying hard to keep her anger inside. Laughter bubbled up inside me and I cracked up as soon as mother left.
"PFFT! OH GOD! HAHAHAHA!" My sister growled like a ferocious lion and turned on her heel, dashing out of the door with very red cheeks. I continued my maniacal laughter before I finally collapsed due to the lack of oxygen. I took deep breaths and continued to giggle, albeit quieter than before. Ah, good blackmail material. Just you wait, sweet sister.
After finally calming down, I stretched and exhaled contentedly after hearing a satisfied crack. I brushed my teeth and took a bath, changing into a comfortable shirt and a pair of trousers.
I took a look at the poster of Yami Yugi hung over my bed and smiled brightly. I knew he wasn't real, but I still continued to love him like he was real.
As I put my hand on the door knob, a line repeated over my head. "Because it's your birthday." I grinned brightly. Today shall be the day when Alicia Brown finally buys hundreds of Duel Monster packs and upgrades her shitty deck.
I leaned back on the railing of the roof, feeling the cool metal brush against my shirt. A soft breeze blew, throwing few strands of hair into my eyes, forcing it to close reflexively. I brought my knees to my chest and buried my face in the fabric, only my eyes peeking out. I softly fingered my new deck I had made, giddiness spreading in my stomach.
You're behaving like you just had your first child. My ever witty mind decided to butt in, making my cheeks heat up. I bit my lips and pretended to focus somewhere else. And I found something perfect.
My heart gave a hard thump against my chest as I saw a shooting star coming at me. My eyes widened and I watched it pass by me, mesmerized. I had never seen a shooting star before in my life. My lips twitched upwards in a smile.
I sure wasn't a person to believe into the myths of wish-granting by a shooting star, but that didn't stop me from watching it, right?
My smile slowly morphed into a frightened grimace as it did not pass, but rather continued to come toward me. W-What…? What's… going…. on?
I felt as I had been paralyzed, my feet sticking to the floor like glue. I couldn't move, I couldn't scream, I couldn't do anything.
It continued to zoom toward me and I felt almost blinded by the amount of light it was emitting. But why would a star do that? Isn't it supposed t-to be a freaking huge ball!? I thought desperately and let out a sound-less cry as I felt the blinding light completely engulf me, shooting bolts of pain throughout my body.
I felt like I was being fried and I tried to scream, but my vocal cord seemed to fail me. I tried to kick, I tried to punch, and I tried to do anything! But I just… couldn't. I couldn't even cry, but could only hopelessly only bear the pain.
Somebody… h-help! Please!
That somebody became my own body as my brain finally had mercy and I lost consciousness.
