"So keep in mind all the sacrifices that I'm making; to keep you by my side, to keep you from walking out the door."

~Bruno Mars –It will Rain

He tried. He had tried alright.

It was still the same; it made no difference.

He was still a mafia don; while he still served Vongola.

He couldn't bind him selfishly to himself, no matter how much he loved him. He loved him fully, selflessly and respectfully.

He let the skylark spread his own wings and fly away, long before he had stopped calling himself his tutor. He no longer nagged at him or called him endlessly to make sure that he didn't do anything stupid, to make sure that he hadn't destroyed anything recklessly.

Cause his lover was moat beautiful when his wings were spread fully.

Dino had long given up trying to persuade him to come to parties with him, to attend the flashy balls that Vongola organized. However, his lover never failed to surprise when he turned up after the party in his violet dress shirt with that silk black tie that he had bought for him for his graduation. He would incline his head in respect in Tsuna's direction; barely look at anything around him before tugging his hand and pulling him out into his car.

Only when they were safely behind black tinted bulletproof windows would lips meet just briefly and certain promises be whispered.

He would drive Dino home and sneak in with him into his room where they would fall onto his lush velvet bed in a tangle of limbs and clothes. Sometimes they were impatient, tearing clothes and accessories off till they were ripped and tattered; other times they would take their time, kissing each other senseless before everything heated up. Eventually they would fall asleep in each others' arms, with him smiling quietly into that raven hair.

Dino was used to waking up to an empty bed, clothes gone and everything returned to normal. He was used to dressing along and going along his day as if last night had never happened. He was used to calling his cell phone only to be met with an automated voice message request recording. He was used to going to parties alone and smiling blindly at all the ladies that tried to latch on to his arm. He was used to sitting at the balcony in his room alone, slowly draining the expensive bottle of wine that cost more than his own Armani suit set.

He was used to all of this, as his lover never stayed long.

He knew that if he went any further to try and make him stay longer, he would have to give up all thoughts of ever seeing him again.

Dino Cavallone was content to keep on with these sacrifices, to spend all those lonely nights by himself, to cry himself to sleep on the bed that seemed far too big for him alone.

Cause he loved Hibari Kyoya enough to bear all those nights alone.

It was all he could do to keep him from walking out the door and never coming back.
