Danny walked into the Hanover common room to see his former roommate, Wes, sitting there crying. He looked up as Danny entered the room.
"He doesn't love me ,Danny. David doesn't love me and he never will. And I can't be mad at him or Kathy because they're perfect for each other. And she makes him happy.
I-i just need a friend right now."
Danny walked over and sat next to Wes ,taking him into him arms and letting him cry into his shoulder. Danny, on the other hand had to fight back tears. He was also in love.
With the boy that was currently in his arms. He had been since freshman year, and he hated seeing the one he loved in so much pain.
"It's okay, Wes. It's okay. They're more fish in the sea."
Wes sniffed at that one.
"Okay, that was stupid" Danny said, with a laugh. "But it's true."
Wes pulled back and looked his friend in the eye, only to see unshed tears.
"What's wrong, Danny?" Wes asked, concerned.
It was finally time to tell him. Was it a good moment? No, but he didn't care. Wes had to know.
"I love you, Wes. I have since we first met in the auditorium. The way you smiled, it made me smile. Seeing you like this, it breaks me. David may not love you, but I do."
Now it was out there, now he knew.
As Danny stood to leave, Wes caught his arm. "Y-you love me?"
Yes, I do. I'm sorry" Tears began to fall from Danny's eyes as he said this.
Wes was shocked. His best friend loved him. He began to smile.
'He loves me!" Wes thought 'After three years of me thinking I would never have a chance with him, he loves me.'
Danny's speaking brought him back from the depths of his mind.
"I guess I'll just leave now." Danny said, as he began to go out the door.
"Wait," Danny froze at Wes' tone, and he turned to face him. "I love you to ,Dan. I just never thought I'd have a chance with you." Wes began to walk towards Danny, a smile forming on his face.
"I was scared of rejection, at first. Then ,I guess I read your signals wrong. But I love you ,and I want to be with you."
And before Danny could respond, Wes' lips were on his, in a kiss.
