Hey guys! So since I haven't updated in well... forever because of the typical writer's block. I've decided to make it up to you with this. I know it isn't enough to make up for updating so slow. But please forgive me. Anyway, I found this when I was looking over my old files. This was originally written as a memorized speech for my... literature class I think, or was it debate class back when I was in fourth year high school. So I decided to post this up with a bit of editing here and there. It's short but please do enjoy. And once again, hontou ni gomen nasai minna-san.
Lessons from the Whirlpool
He was given a burden, no one else could. He lost his family before he even met them. He is the village pariah. But guess what… he still smiles…
You would know by now who I am talking about. A young boy who aspires to be the Hokage, the head of his village. However, as I we all know he is the village pariah, despised and avoided, just because inside him he holds the great nine tailed fox who caused havoc upon the village.
But I'm not here to talk about his story… I'm here to talk about what lessons we gain, these lessons I've learned from reading quite a number of fan fiction, the reason why I've come to love the anime.
The first is stubbornness. Sure when you first hear it, you'd think it isn't really a good thing. But his stubbornness isn't something to be ridiculed. His stubbornness is something we, should actually admire. Why? Because we should be stubborn enough to not care about what other people would think about our goals, about us, about how unique we can be. We should simply just be ourselves. But that's not it; we should also learn to be as determined as him. To not give up on our goals just because it seems so hopeless, just because there are too many factors that bring us down. But we should persevere with our goals, because we want to reach it so much, because there are so many reasons why we should reach that goal. So be stubborn, his way.
The second lesson would be the management of our emotions. As a person that is close to quite a number of people from the military I take this lesson by heart. And try to teach it to them, subtly. Being a ninja or being a soldier, the concept is almost the same and is also misinterpreted in the same way. People would think that to be a soldier, one would have to ignore his feelings, a sacrifice one must make for the ones you wish to protect. But this isn't supposed to be. What is supposed to happen is management; to know when, where and which emotions more appropriate. Even as mere civilians we are still able to use this. Workplaces, public places, other people's houses, this applies to everyone. But it isn't that easy to do.
But best lesson that we can learn from Naruto is the fact that no matter how much obstacles he has to overcome. In the end he still manages to smile, it doesn't matter to me how fake or how real the smile is, but the fact that he is still able to smile after every bit of shit was thrown at him he still is able to smile. Mask or not, I admire that he could do what he does.
And so, the village pariah is actually the village asset; the person that the most influential people admire; the person that even the most sadistic interrogators of the village has come to admire. And his name is, Uzumaki-Namikaze Naruto.
P.S. Please to read and review. I'd appreciate that.
