A/N: Hi! This is my first Pirates of the Caribbean fanfic! Hope you like it!
I don't own Pirates of the Caribbean

"It's gone."

"I'm sorry Jack," Elizabeth's voice cut through the thoughts of his precious ship.

"They only done what's right by them, can't expect more of them than that."
He tried to brush it off, make it seem as though his heart had not left him at the sight of the vast expanse of black sea where his treasured Pearl should have been.

He complied numbly as the English soldiers pulled him from the small rowboat. After all those years, finally it was in his sights, and then it was gone once again.

Leaving him stranded.

His ears did not hear Will's or Elizabeth's protests as the soldiers clapped him in irons.
He did not hear them as the soldiers pulled him towards the great ship bound for Port Royal.
It was only when her small hand grasped his shoulder that he finally turned to face them.

"We won't let them take you Jack!" Elizabeth cried, begging her father to grant him pardon.
Jack lifted his head slightly to look at Will.
"We will fight for you Jack," the boy whispered.

Jack slowly shook his head, his dreadlocks brushing his bent face.
"No," he sighed softly, "It's over."

Elizabeth stopped suddenly, taken aback. She had never seen him like this.
"Elizabeth, Will, please excuse me."

He was so distant and serious, not a hint of the eccentric and cheerful Jack that she knew. Even his walk and his posture were different as he strode with the soldiers from the rowboat never once looking back.

"Jack!" He heard her scream from the deck. He paused slightly, stumbling as the soldiers pulled him along. Suddenly he heard a familiar song sung in a desperate voice.
"Yo ho all together! Hoist the colours high! Heave ho thieves and beggars…" The song stopped suddenly as the soldiers threw him below deck and into the dank cell.

As he sat there defeated, in the darkness, his arms wrapped tightly around his knees, the words of the song began to weave their way into his thoughts.
He looked up suddenly, a spark of hope appearing in his eyes.

Heave ho! Thieves and beggars….

Never say we die.
