"I love you"

"Those words will be the death of me"

Alex Vause looked at the sky. The indigo sky. She didn't care much for blue, really. It was the strikes of orange that intrigued her. What remained of the sun.

"It'll be gone soon," she thought. "Nothing stays the same for too long."

She felt a familiar hand brush through her shoulder from behind.

"That was quick, picked the strawberries yourself Chapman?" she questioned the blonde lady with perfect legs, who was holding a brown paper cup with a giant pink straw pointing out from it.

"What am I doing?"

Alex never psychoanalyzed herself. Never. She was always right, even when she wasn't. This was new. Piper was new.

"Sorry, the line was too long!" Piper said defensively as she sat on the cool sand next to Alex. She sipped her strawberry-banana smoothie from the straw fit for a king.

"Excuses, excuses" Alex sighed. "How do I know you weren't flirting with some tanned bitch with cornrows?" she asked moving to her left, leaning on Piper. Elongating her neck, she reached out to the straw on Piper's smoothie, trying to catch it with her tongue. It took her a few tries to get her mouth around it, the straw moving around the paper cup as she did.

Piper knew she was fooling around with it. Flirting.

"How doyou know I didn't?" Piper Chapman questioned back. She struck the yellow curls out of her face, and tucked in behind her ear. She stared at Alex's neck; exposed as she bent her head to drink the smoothie. Alex barely tied her hair in a bun like today, not to Piper's disposition. She loved Alex's hair. The way it fell over her face. The way she tucked it behind her ear. The way it was the colour of adventure. But Piper Chapman also loved her neck. God, that neck.

Piper put her hand on Alex's neck, stroking it gently.

Alex looked up.

"Because if you were, that bitch would be bleeding on the shore asking for mercy" Alex stared into Piper's blue eyes.

Piper's hand moved from her neck to her face. She pulled Alex closer, till they were so close she could smell every inch of her.
