Charles Beckendorf still had to remind himself that this summer was not a mere dream. That way, he was able to dress himself up in order to face today's firework
For the first time since his arrival in Camp Half-Blood, Beckendorf was going to watch it with a girl. A girl, note that wisely. He is a son of Hephaestus and yet his date for tonight was a daughter of Aphrodite.
Surprise.
He did not even remember where did he got the courage to ask her, Silena Beauregard, the head counselor of Cabin 10 (more surprise). Maybe Aphrodite did pay him respect.
"Hey, Silena," he told her once they arrived at the beach-where campers had already found their comfy places—and sat on the white sand, "watch the firework carefully, will you?"
She smiled brightly, which made his heart do some regular exercise. "Okay."
For some preparations and attempts on reducing the level of awkwardness, Charles started to build a proper conversation. "Anyway, do you know the Japanese word of 'firework'?"
She shook her head with a 'no'.
"It's hanabi, which means 'fire flower'. Maybe when the first time the Japanese saw it, they thought there were flowers made of fire."
Silena chuckled a bit. "Well, that's weird, but sometimes I do think they burst like a blooming flower, too."
"Oh, the show begins!" the black-haired guy pointed to the sky. "Look!"
They watched in silent and awe, because to be truthful-the fireworks were more beautiful than the past year. Not only because the Hephaestus cabin-that including him, of course-wanted the camp to have more happiness after The Battle of the Labyrinth, but also because Charles had already prepared a nice act.
All of sudden, the firework scene turned into a garden full of blooming (and bursting) springtime flowers, with 'Be mine, Silena' written on the bright sky.
"Silena," Beckendorf turned his head to her, "I've been in love with you for, like three years. You are the bursting fire of my spirit and the blooming flowers of my happiness." He cleared his throat and recite, "Be mine, Silena Beauregard."
Then, a "Thought you'll never asked!" shout from her began the sweet kiss under the firework.
This is the best summer ever.
*THE END!*
Like a Fire Flower, please wait 'til the day
When we can bloom spectacularly in the night sky.
