For Owluvr's Character Diversity Boot Camp Challenge

Prompt: Forgotten

She'd never been a nice girl, never been liked. Myrtle had always been that girl that was taunted, mocked, the girl everyone she knew despised. Even her parents hadn't liked her much, ecstatic at the prospect of sending her away for most of the year.

Ugly Myrtle. Fat Myrtle. Whiny Myrtle.

Maybe if she ignored it, it would go away, be as if it never happened at all. Yeah, as if that ever works. Whispers when her back was turned. Glares and snickers in the halls. Possessions disappearing. Work sabotaged.

Ugly Myrtle. Fat Myrtle. Whiny Myrtle.

Then it came. The creature came, the petrifying came, and eventually, death came. No one cried, no one mourned her death in any way. The only concern came from people worried the creature would get them too. There'd be no more taunting, no more cruelty towards her.

Ugly Myrtle. Fat Myrtle. Whiny Myrtle.

Life went on, they went about as if nothing had ever happened. As if Myrtle had never existed. Hah, as if she'd let that happen. As if she'd let them forget. In the corner of their eye, they'd see a girl, a girl filled with so much rage and hatred. A girl who looked like poor Myrtle. And at night, the taunts seemed to be whispered through the walls.

Ugly Myrtle. Fat Myrtle. Whiny Myrtle.

She'd never be liked. She'd never be nice to people either. But if there was one thing Myrtle would be, she would be remembered. Spending the rest of eternity in the washroom, scaring first years, irritating everyone else. Never forgotten.
