He stared off into the distance, optics dulled. It was odd to see him like this, see him so lost, looking as young as he was, and not the older image that he portrayed so well. A hand went to his chest, claws rubbing at the spot over his spark. An empty place, a void that he battled daily now thanks to Frenzy's death. A void that had been somewhat filled via his creation, Motorcross, whom he d created with Wildrider before...

Before he d got to think, gone to ground. Soundwave still hunted him. Always would. The telepath wouldn t rest until he'd killed the shocktrooper. And Barricade had no desire to die. Not when he was finally finding out that no, he didn t always have to be a pawn to the Decepticon telepath, that he could be something else. Oh, he d always be a shocktropper, for that was his design, his purpose in this life. But he could chose now. Chose to make use of it, and not just blindly follow orders.

And he d chosen to hide, and then he d come back, drawn by the faint, faint echoes of a creation-bond with Wildrider. The Stunticon was like him - forced into a war that he d never wanted. But his own brother as well, Motormaster. The gestalt leader was cruel, and like Soundwave, that mech wouldn t stop hunting his traitorous brother.

He shook his head, looking back at the base. He had a life here. Mechs that cared... Well, some. Most Autobots on earth still looked at him with suspicion, and he could understand that. As it was, he was considering leaving. He d leave Motorcross here and vanish. Go off the grid. He'd done it for fifteen earth years, not just hiding himself, but Motorcross as well. He could do it again, do it for longer. Forever if needed, and it would be easier as it was only himself that he d have to worry about.

"Barricade?"

He startled, then straightened, a mask of indifference falling over his faceplates as he looked at the young scout. He must have been deep in thought if he d not heard him approaching.

"Hey, I was looking for you... Bee shifted slightly, brushing a hand over the black armour. "Walk with me?"

The former Decepticon nodded, following the scout, wondering what he wanted.

"I'm carrying, Cade."

"What?" He couldn t help it, couldn t help the blinking and the twitching and the staring. "But... I... You... Huh?"

"It's yours Cade. A sibling for Cross.. And the others."

Barricade stared at the scout long and hard, confusion in his optics, before he nodded.

Perhaps he d stay for a while. Look after his precious things, his.. Partners really.

And maybe one day that void would be filled.
