A ballerina snow globe sits in a small corner and plays it's sad melody (time?), echoing through the empty halls of Ed and Envy's house. Ed never would know why Envy kept the damn thing when it made him sad, but there were some things you just didn't question about the sin. When Ed had first moved into Envy's little apartment he'd asked him why. "This is the way a heart beats when it's lonely," was all the answer he'd gotten, and he chose to believe he didn't understand his lover. But, as the truth went, the song was familiar to him (only?) because his heart had beat that exact same song when he'd first joined the military. One day when Lust had been visiting, she'd asked what it was, mesmerized by the simple tune. "This is the way a heart beats when it's broken," Envy'd said, and he'd seen her look away and tell herself that she didn't know what he meant, and knew exactly how she felt.
Sloth lay on her back on the hill near where the Elrics' house used to be, staring at the blue sky. White fluffy clouds drifted by overhead, like castles in the air, and reminded her of white sheets on a clothes line and transmuted toy animals. She let her tired gaze slip from the sky to the grass near her nose as she rolled onto her side. She remembered helping Alphonse find some lost kittens in the tall winter grass and closed her eyes. She had her human memories, but she didn't want them. She hated the human she was she felt nothing for her former children. Something jabbed her back and she looked up. "What do you think you're doing? You're supposed to be gathering files," said Dante, digging her foot into Sloth's back again. "I did," said Sloth, sitting up and pointing some manila folders held down by a rock. Dante looked at the folders, then back at Sloth with narrow eyes. "Then what do you think you're doing?" she asked again. Sloth shrugged. "Just thinking," she said looking past Dante at one of the clouds. Dante kicked her in the shin and asked, "About what?" malice thick in her voice. Sloth sighed. "About how much I hate my human life." Dante snorted, a smirk gracing her lips as she said, "Don't humor yourself. You can't feel." Then she turned and picked up the folders and turned to leave. Reluctantly, Sloth got up and followed her.
Second fic: I think this was an experiment with Sloth, one of my least favorite FMA characters. I wrote it a long time ago, so I can't quite remember. I personally believe the Sins have feelings, but let Dante think they don't, and this probably just a scenario involving that and another concept I'd like to be fond of, which is that the Sins retain the memories of the humans their were made from.
First fic: I have no idea what this was supposed to be, nor what the circumstances are. From what I can tell, it was a pretty, abstract concept that involved Envy being more broken inside than what he lets on. Until he lets Ed and Lust know.
