Alchemy By: Jennifer
What is Alchemy? Alchemy is a pseudo science, meaning a fake type of science. Alchemy works by the laws of chemistry. For those who don't know, chemistry is in fact about the relationship between two substances. No one knows for sure on how to use Alchemy but there are ancient scriptures that archeologists have found. Right now, scientists are decoding bits by bits of the ancient scriptures every year. Alchemy has been studied for thousands of years. From peasants to royalty almost everyone has studied it in medieval times. Alchemy has a dark history behind it as well. If you ever learned it, be sure that you are aware of the consequences.
Alchemy is based on equivalent exchange. You would have to have a balance of value between 2 items. For example, to get bread you could transmute grass. Alchemy is also about transmutation. Transmutation is basically transforming or changing the substances particles. Equivalent exchange us a rule that all alchemists follow and never disobey. But, there is a way to transmute something without using equivalent exchange. This sacred item has many titles to it. The elixir of life, the crimson stone and the most famous title, the philosopher's stone. Alchemists searched the entire world for this sacred stone. There are only theories on how to create the stone, and many of them worked, but what they created only held half of the power. The missing ingredient was life. In order to create a real philosophers stone, you needed to sacrifice millions of lives for one small pebble. Plus not only are you killing others but if there aren't enough sacrifices your body will be taken into a gate that is said to hold the truth of the universe and a parallel world. Scientists are still not sure if this gate truly exists but it may be real so they are searching for clues about it. From all of the searches, alchemists found out that they can use the 4 elements whenever they were near the element. Alchemists considered themselves the closest people to God because they were the only people that were able to use alchemy. They also thought that they could mix the 4 elements together and create a superior element. But with all of this knowledge they were still humans. There were limitations and they lived short lives. Many alchemists became crazy. They had almost reached their goals of becoming Gods, and yet slowly but surely all of their work disappeared and they became simple merchants who once worked for royalty and had a great sum of money. Alchemy was soon banned and it was then put in the dark magic category. Nowadays people don't even know what alchemy is. For those who don't know, alchemy started with a simple goal of wanting a better life without any troubles like hurricanes and tornadoes. It started with a few farmers who wanted to just have some bread to feed their families. From that innocent goal became a big, greedy, selfish, blood covered goal of becoming Gods.
Alchemy may be quite convenient but it has a great cost. You have to kill innocent people to get power and, using dark magic, you have to sell your soul to the devil to use alchemy. Alchemy is dangerous but it may hold a key to troubles ahead. Now it may be dangerous but if you know how to use it then go ahead. Don't let the word dangerous stop you from learning the dark history of alchemy.
