Nikki couldn't believe how she was feeling. She had tried to block the feeling out, she stubbornly refused to believe what she was feeling but it was getting harder. Glaring over at Harry who was bent over the open chest of the male he was autopsying she slammed the pen she was holding on the table harder than she expected causing him to look up at her. Her heart thumped in her chest and she cursed herself inwardly for the blush that rose on her cheeks when she looked into Harry's eyes.

"Sorry" she apologised "Slipped out of my hand"

Harry only nodded and looked back down at the cadaver. Nikki glared at him once more and turned back to the microscope she was meant to be looking down. She and Harry would never work, there was office politics, the way they would probably see each other practically twenty-four hours a day, then the inevitable messy breakup that would leave their work very awkward. Nikki sometimes hated the fact that they worked together. Nikki closed her eyes and took a deep breath, she didn't want to think about it. Harry had broken her heart too many times to remember and he didn't even know it. The way he didn't tell her about America, the way he didn't tell her about Penny, the way he just didn't appreciate her. She want even convinced he saw her as a woman, he probably saw her as just another co-worker. No wonder she threw herself into doomed relationships with inappropriate men. Glaring once again at Harry, a quote she had read in one of her magazines came back to her; 'It's funny how someone can break your heart and you still love them with all the tiny pieces'. Nikki scoffed to herself, how right the person who said that was.

Found the quote on facebook and thought it appealed a lot to Harry/Nikki and they way Harry hurts Nikki sometimes and the way she just puts up with it.
