Hey ya'll. I've been very sad today. So, I decided to write this one-shot. All human. Enjoy.
Edward's POV
I remember that day very clearly, even though it was so long ago...
-Flashback-
I was running down the street, looking for someone, anyone that could answer my questions.
The smoke filled air made me choke and gag, but I just kept running.
"Hello?!" I barely choked out, "Can anyone hear me?!" I yelled, panicking now.
That's when I saw her. Sitting all by herself, sobbing quietly. I walked over and sat beside her.
"Are you alright?" I asked.
"N-not really," She stuttered.
"Well, what happened here?" I said.
She looked at me like I'd just told her I could read minds. She had the most beautiful chocolate brown eyes and bright red, tearstained cheeks.
"You haven't heard?" She asked.
I shrugged and said, "Apparently not."
"Well, about an hour ago, some idiots in airplanes crashed the planes into the buildings over there," She explained, pointing to two enormous burning buildings. Firefighters and EMT staff were running into the burning buildings with strechers and fire hoses, trying desperately to save lives.
"And," She continued, "They killed lots of people and crashed another plane into the Pentagon."
"Oh my-" I said, barely able to get the words out.
"Yeah..." She said dejectedly.
At that very moment, the larger building started to collapse in on itself. Debris flew away from the building like an explosion.
"Let's get out of here!" I yelled over the thunderous noise. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the nearest building, where we watched the giant building fall.
"No!" She screamed, trying to run back outside.
"What are you doing?!" I yelled back, pulling her back in the building, trying to keep her safe.
"So many people were in that building! I have to try to help!" She yelled, still struggling to get away.
"You can't do anything for them now! You'll die too!" I said, trying to reason with her.
"I don't care!" She screeched, breaking free of the death grip I had on her hand.
She was so unselfish.
I darted after her, picked her up, and sprinted back to the safe building, away from harm.
"No," she cried, "No, no, no."
The second building fell then and that just made her cry harder. I rocked her back and forth in my arms, trying to calm her down.
"It's going to be okay, it's going to be okay," I chanted, willing myself to believe my own words.
She sniffled and said, "I'm Bella, by the way."
I smiled at her and said, "My name's Edward."
We sat there, smiling through all the pain we were hiding. I hugged her and whispered, "It's going to be alright."
-End Flashback-
And everything's been great ever since.
Hope you liked it! Reviews would mean alot.
