Naruto is afraid. He is afraid of the dark power he holds. He is afraid because he can't stop the beast in the cage from taking control. He struggles constantly with it. Back and forth a never ending cycle.

One side is powered by sheer willpower and the need to protect what is precious to him. The other side is powered by an enormous amount of rage and bloodlust.

He has a dangerous organization coming after him for his tenant. The Akatsuki are all fools thinking they can control the bloodlust of the beast he holds, let alone all nine beasts. He can barley suppress the intent to kill the Kyuubi constantly puts out in hopes he will succumb to it.

There have been times when his will wavered. Each time has cost him. The first time he completely lost control he nearly killed his sensei Jiraiya who was the only teacher who never hated him at all and was an actual teacher to him unlike Kakashi. The next time he endangered his team and hurt Sakura. The last time he did it he went above 4 tails and went all the way to 5 tails, destroying a large portion of the area that it occurred in. The council nearly had him executed.

Naruto knows that there is a good chance he will lose control again when Akatsuki makes their move to capture him. He knows he will need to use Kyuubi's power to defeat the organization once and for all. He just hopes that he won't attack his friends and comrades.
