Pictures From the Heart
It was as silent as the edge of the earth.
Everything was quiet, except for the occasional rustle of leaves in the Goshinboku. The village was dead; all the lights were faded and nothing moved. Well, besides the little movements of her "pencil" thing scribbling nonsense over her blank book. A "sketch book", as she once called it.
I caught Kagome writing in it when everyone (besides me) fell asleep, but everytime I try to get a peek at it, I always wind up getting yelled at or making out with the dirt. Damn woman was hiding something, and I am DETERMINED to find out what the hell it is! Keh, it's probably just scribbles, or some sort of journal. It might not even be that interesting! Either way, I get restless when I think of what it might be...
Could she... Could she be writing about me? About how much of a baka I am? Or even worse; she could be writing about that damn wolf! She could be writing nice things about him!
Oh, kami... Just thinking about that stuff is making my stomach do the cha-cha. I shook my head and hurriedly glanced down at the innocent miko and watched her pack her stuff into her bag. It looked as if she just heard a funny joke, because she had a bright grin on her pale face as she layed down in her sleeping bag. I waited a few minutes until her breathing slowed down peacefully before I nimbly hopped off the branch. To my great luck, the ground didn't even vibrate, let alone make any noise.
I carefully reached for her bag and-
"Wait! What on earth do you think you're doing?" Oh no. Not this guy again!
"Dude, shut the hell up! You'll wake everyone if you yell like that!"
"You, kind sir, are a baka. I cannot wake anyone up, for I am in your head." Jeez, why does he have to be such a smartass?
"Okay, shut up! What do you want?" I growled to the voice in my head.
"I'm trying to stop you from doing something you'll regret! Think about it: If Kagome doesn't want anyone to see her little book, don't you think you should, um, you know... RESPECT her wishes? What would you do if Kagome thought that she couldn't trust you anymore? It would hurt, wouldn't it?" ...
Stupid, fucking human inner voice! Always knows exactly what to say to make me feel like an ass! "Alright, win, THIS time!"
"I always win. *snickers*"
I let out a low growl and jumped back into the tree. I took one last look at Kagome, sleeping soundly in her pink sleeping bag. Sigh, that damn woman will be the death of me... In a good way.
I fell asleep with my head full of sneaky ideas...
Kagome lat out a sigh of contentment, knowing that her true love was keeping her out of harms way, even in sleep.
She spent the whole night dreaming about silver hair and piercing golden eyes that filled the pages of her sketch book.
