This is my first fic so plz don't be too harsh. You can criticize but don't overdo it. Plz enjoy!
"Honey it's time for lunch."
"'Kay mom, can I bring this really neat stuff I found?"
"Sure."
Kai raced to the dinner table with a box in her hands. Setting it down she grabbed the first item her hand touched. It was a photo album.
"Hey mom can you tell me who the people in these pictures are?" Opening the album she flipped to a picture that included her mother with 5 other people.
"Well the blond haired man is Minato Namikaze. The red haired lady is Kushina Uzumaki. The black haired boy with goggles is Obito Uchiha. The brown haired girl with the marks on her face is Rin, and the silver haired boy is Kakashi Hatake."
"Why do they have such weird names?"
"Well they're place is different than ours so you can't blame them."
"Hmmmm…"
Eating her meal she flipped through the photos again. Then she started noticing that Obito didn't appear in any of the pictures after Kakashi started to cover his left eye with his headband. Then Rin also started to disappear. At the last few pictures no one but her mom and Kakashi were there, but they had bags under their eyes and they looked worn tired and her mother didn't smile much.
"Mom why are you and Kakashi so sad in these last few pics and where's Namikaze-san and the rest of them?" Kai saw her mother look out the window and sigh.
"They died…"
"H-h-how exactly?"
"Well Obito gave his life to protect Kakashi in a sort of rock slide. Rin disappeared on a mission, and Minato-san gave up his life to protect the village. Kushina died while giving birth to her and Minato's son Naruto Uzumaki. You can see him on the very last page."
Kai flipped to the end and saw a blonde haired baby with a spiral on its tummy. The baby looked so much like Minato.
"What happened to Naruto? How did he live with no parents at all?"
"I don't know. I left before I had a chance to see him grow up."
"…"
Kai wondered how a tragic story like this could exist. She doubted Naruto remembered anything but Kakashi probably did.
"Come on eat your lunch."
Kai lost most of her appetite but she tried to eat for the sake of cheering her mom up. She wished she hadn't brought the album to the table in the first place.
AT NIGHT…
Kai stared up at her ceiling as she replayed what had happened at lunch. Turning to her side she looked at her alarm clock. It was 11:47.
'I need to get some sleep.' Closing her eyes she saw the pictures again in her dreams. A rock slide started coming at her but she couldn't run. Rooted to the spot she stared in fear and horror at the oncoming boulders.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Kai shot up as if someone had electrocuted her. Sweating she went to the restroom and wet her face. Staring into the mirror she looked at herself and saw a scared 17 year old girl looking back at her. Grabbing a towel she dried her face and started to dress. For some strange reason she wanted to go look at the box again.
Climbing into the attic she located the box in the right corner of the room.
'Weird. I remember putting it right next to the entrance. I guess mom must have been in here.' She opened it and saw a kimono. It was black with blood red roses decorating it. 'Wow it's beautiful.'
Trying it on, she looked at the mirror and stared at her reflection. She didn't look that bad. Just fix the hair a little more and apply some makeup then she could have been one of those Japanese dancers. Not that she'd want to. Kai, being a tomboy mostly didn't take lightly to dancing gracefully in front of others for their entertainment but she couldn't deny the kimono was elegant.
Looking through the older stuff she found a book. The cover read Forbidden Jutsu's but that didn't stop her. Flipping through the table of contents she saw a lot of things that would be useful but one caught her attention as she scanned over it.
'One that can send you to an alternate universe?!' She flipped to that page and looked at the hand signs. 'This is so ninja-ish but it couldn't hurt to give it a try. No one's looking anyway.'
She practiced it slowly first then sped up a bit. Feeling like she was ready to actually try it she started to make the seals. Finishing she looked around her, her surroundings hadn't changed so the jutsu hadn't worked.
Looking at her watch she nearly screamed. 'I'm late for school!!' Running to the door that led to the stairs she felt a sort of tug on the kimono. 'I forgot to take it off, but why do I feel some force pulling me back to the backwards?'
Turning her head around, she gasped. There was a huge hole just floating in the air. It was tugging her in just like the black holes she had seen in those sci-fi movies. Except this time it was real.
Grabbing onto anything that her hand touched, she desperately tried to get away. Looking back at the black hole she saw that half her body had already been sucked in.
"MOM! HELP ME!"
Kai's fear lessened a bit as she heard her mother racing up the steps. But just a bit.
"Kai! What happened?!" Her mother's eyes widened upon seeing the black hole. However she quickly realized that she needed to help her daughter or else Kai would disappear. Grabbing onto the door she stretched her hand out to Kai. Kai caught her hand and could feel her mom trying to pull her out.
She started to panic because she realized that her mother wasn't strong enough. She could feel her hand slipping out her mother's grasp. Then she felt the hole give an even stronger pull. Kai's hand was pulled out and she heard her mother scream. That was the last thing she heard before feeling herself black out.
