llll Shut it Off llll

Lorelai sat in the diner on a stool as she tapped her nail on the counter. Luke leaned close to her.

"I wish you would stop that."

"Stop what?"

"That tapping. You're doing it again."

Lorelai looked down at her finger. She sighed with aggravation. "I'm sorry. It's just...I really wish she would stop."

"Ignore her. I am."

Lorelai looked down the counter at the beautiful woman. "Look at her!" She exclaimed quietly to Luke. "She's ogling you. Hello! Subtlety people!" She said louder.

Luke couldn't stop the smile that came across his lips. "Lorelai, relax. You don't have anything to worry about."

"That's not the point, Luke."

"And, what is the point?"

"She's ogling you!"

"I heard you the first time."

"Well, do something about it."

He frowned in her direction. "What am I supposed to do? Tell her to stop?"

"For starters."

"You're being ridiculous," he said with composure.

"And, if you won't do that, then...then, at least shut it off or something!"

"Shut what off?"

"You! Put on some shades to hide your eyes."

"What?"

"Wear a longer flannel to cover your whole middle region."

"Lorelai."

"And, if you care about me at all, you'll just wear a mask to cover your lips and...your face in general. Better yet, why don't you just stay in your apartment and let Caesar handle the diner from now on."

"I think you've lost it."

"We have been dating for three and a half months."

"I know."

"Why is it that in that three and a half months, I have seen nearly every attractive woman scoping you out? I never saw it before we got together. They're doing this on purpose."

Luke laughed. "You're paranoid."

"No, I'm not."

"Yes, you are, and just to state a fact, they did it before too. You didn't notice it because we were friends, and you didn't pay it any attention."

"Really?" Luke nodded. "Okay, you wouldn't happen to have pictures of these women, would you?"

"I never took you for the jealous type."

"I never took you for the laid back, go-with-the-flow type."

He shrugged. "It used to fluster me."

"Used to? What happened?"

"I got you. I don't think twice about it now."

"Aw, Luke."

He smiled. "That was pretty good, wasn't it?"

She laughed. "It was incredibly good. Come here." He leaned over the counter and they kissed. He pulled back when he felt Lorelai trying to step it up by adding her tongue to the mix. She smiled. "Later?"

"Later sounds about right."

"Okay." She took a drink of coffee. "Do me one favor?"

"Sure."

She looked up at him. "Shut it off."

He shook his head and went to fill some coffee mugs.
