Gary sits on the couch, arms aching for Jimmy and Petey. He so desperately wants to be close to them, to kiss them, to touch them... And infuriatingly they sit only inches away, faces turned idiotically to the screen, its light staining their faces blue in the darkness.
He can see their expressions in detail - concentration, laughter...
And suddenly the TV goes black.
A power outage, Gary realizes.
The rest of the guys crowded round the screen grumble and walk back to their dorms, disappointed. He hears a few of them mumble something like, "That's the third time this week," and "Maybe Burton's still screwing with the electricity board."
Finally! A chance to show them his affection, to quench the thirst inside him that hungers for their touch, their kiss, and theirs alone. He loves them, and for the first time in his life, he's not in an ADD-affected haze. He really loves them.
Petey. A shy, pink rabbit. Floppy ears, quick to run, yet still adorable. The most adorable little rabbit.
Jimmy. A strong, grey wolf. Thirsts for power. A handsome, intelligent creature.
He loves them both to the depth and breadth of his soul.
He's never felt this way before. Like the only thing holding him earthbound is these two people, the only two people he can be himself with, that he trusts. He doesn't need light to see their faces. The only illumination he needs is the brightness that he feels in his chest, like he's so happy to be with these people and these people alone that he feels like he's going to burst.
He cocks his head to the side and raises his arms to encircle their shoulders, hoping not to be rejected as he has before, smiling with anticipation...
Only then does he realize he's alone in the dark.
A dream.
The realization that they aren't with him hits him hard.
He's not in the Boys' Dorm at all.
He's in his cold, lonely Happy Volts cell.
Alone.
He feels the chaos descend.
And the final reality hits.
The only thing keeping him sane is Jimmy and Petey.
Even they have abandoned him now.
