My Love, Edward

Disclaimer: I do not own The Illusionist, its characters, setting, or any of it. Only Steven Millhauser (author of the short story) and Neil Burger (director/screenwriter of movie) own it.

Author's Note: One-shot poem. R/R please. This poem is based on the movie version, since I have not read the short story yet. This is my idea of Sophie's inner thoughts as she was going to the show that night, unaware she is going to see Eisenhiem (also known as Edward). Thanks to Lauren being my beta :)

Edward!
I miss him dearly.
Oh how I long to see him again!
My heart aches deeply.

The locket,
Oh the beautiful locket!
I have worn all those
Long, but short, years that have gone by.

"I'll make you disappear."
He did not make us disappear.
As a result, I was found.
We were separated.

All those times I snuck out
For us to be together and be happy.
I never got caught
Until that one night.

Suppose I see him again.
Will I recognize him?
Will recognize me?
Will he fall in love with me?

Oh I hope so –
I don't want to marry Leopold
He thinks I'm his
And his alone.

Edward,
Oh my dear, Edward.
I love you and want to see you!
Then make us disappear,And then never be found.
