Aki-note: It's been a while and with school goin' on and all, I gotta put off the rest of my stories on a minor hiatus. Sowee.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything but this story.
When it comes to the topic of war and politics, she knew enough to get by and many times, she was even considered better than most. She wished she could say the same about flirting. Sure, she wasn't an expert in the "Bend and Snap" or the playful teasing, but she wasn't stupid. Just slow. And sometimes, it was just clear that flirting wasn't her forte.
She heard just about every pick-up line imaginable, but every time, she was caught looking at him with a blank stare. "I don't get it."
But she was much older, wiser. She finally caught it when a guy was trying to hit on her and that was definitely an accomplishment on her part.
Now married to her husband of five years, she was especially giddy about this flirting stuff, thinking for sure that she finally got a hang of things. Lying in each other's arms in their bed, they were enjoying some much needed alone time away from their kids.
"Did I ever tell you how much I love you?" he whispered, twirling in his hand a strand of her soft blonde locks.
"Mmhmm," she replied, with a soft peck on his cheek. This flirting thing was a breeze.
"Remember all those cheesy lines I used on you when we were younger?"
"How on earth could I ever forget them, Athrun?" she asked sarcastically, peering at his lazy green eyes.
"I wouldn't know. But you have to admit. They were some pretty good pick-up lines."
"I could say otherwise."
He grinned. "Oh really? This coming from a girl who couldn't tell whether I was trying to hook up with her or not?"
She socked his rib. "Don't mock me."
They lay in silence for a while, their minds drifting away ever so slowly into dream land in peace, for once. But he had to know…
"Hey Cagalli?"
"Yeah?" she asked, her voice spoken no louder than a whisper.
"Did you just fart, because you just blew me away."
He was laughing so hard, it hard for her to go back to that lovely dream she was having.
"Are you trying to lay me, Zala?"
He looked at her with innocent eyes. "Maybe."
What do you know? She wasn't as slow as she thought she was after all.
She rested her forehead upon his. "You do realize, now that we're married, you don't have to use those overrated pick-up lines, right?"
"Yeah, but that was my favorite one."
