Not terrific, but I hadda do this! I changed some lyrics to fit with Underland, like a rich man named Charles instead of a rodeo cowboy and instead of Vegas, I put in Crims…so yeah!
Happy Reading, lil' buddies!
Marvelous Mirana
Hey baby, is that you?
Wow, your hair got so long.
Yeah, yeah, I love it, I really do.
I approached the castle with the Tweedle boys' hands in my own. I saw a white ghostly figure floating down the steps and immediately knew it was my Mirana. I thought back to all the memories in my head and repeated them quietly to the boys. They listened as I sang that song we'd dance to every night.
My old friend, ain't that the song we'd sing in the car
Drivin' downtown, top down, makin' the rounds
Checking out the bands on Doheny Avenue.
We'd sit in the cart as we drove around the city near Crims, looking on as local bands performed. Or favorite was the one on Doheny Avenue… They would play a song that we would sing along to whenever we passed by. The driver of the cart would get mad because our voices never did harmonize…
Yeah, life throws you CURVES,
But you learn to swerve,
Me, I swung and I missed,
And the next thing ya know, I'm reminiscing...
Dreaming old dreams, wishing old wishes,
Like you would be back again.
These past few months, I'd been wishing for those days again. The ones where everyone was happy, where no one had a care in the world…
I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain,
I put on that old song we danced to and then,
I head off to my job, guess not much has changed,
I worked without stopping. Non-stop, never stopping, not taking a break, you could say it a million different ways. But it never took my mind off her once, not a single moment was I free of an image of her face.
Punch the clock, head for home,
Check the phone, just in case,
Go to bed, dream of you,
That's what I'm doin' these days.
Yeah that's what I'm doin'
I dreamt of her often. More often than necessary, if you as me.
Someone told me, after college, you ran off to Crims,
You married a rich man named Charles,
WOW, that ain't the girl I knew,
Me, I've been a few places,
Mostly here and there once or twice,
Still sortin' out life, but I'm doin' all right,
Yeah, it's good to see you, too.
It was great to even catch a glimpse of her, but Alice got in my way. She babbled on and I interrupted, trying to get away. I kept glancing over at Mirana who was giving the Tweedles a kiss on the forehead. I felt jealous until Alice pulled me back by mentioning my hat.
Well, hey girl you're late, and those planes, they don't wait,
She walked back into the castle after saying hello to Bielle and her puppies. I watched with an expression of grief on my face. Everyone who returned got a kiss…except me. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. After Alice left me alone, I fell to my knees and dropped my head in my hands. She must've forgot about me.
But if you ever come back around this sleepy old town,
Promise me you'll stop in, to see an old friend, and until then
Until she notices me…I won't stop thinking about her…I swear I won't. I promise. She can't be mine…no, I know that. But a madman can always dream, right?
I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain,
I put on that old song we danced to and then,
I head off to my job, guess not much has changed,
Punch the clock, head for home,
Check the phone, just in case,
Go to bed, dream of you,
That's what I'm doin' these...
I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain,
I put on that old song we danced to and then,
I wake up and tear drops, they fall down like rain,
I put on that old song we danced to and then
