Dependable Dogs
Kiba was called a lot of things-loud, obnoxious, smelly, idiot-but if you had to tee a word to him, it'd have to be dependable. Because Kiba was one of the most trust-worthy guys anyone could have the privilege to meet and know. That was part of his nature that could be attributed to him being raised surrounded by a pack of dogs.
Because weren't dogs just that? Dependable, reliable, trustworthy, loyal. Whatever a dog was, Kiba was. He made sure of that. Alert, playful, defensive, Kiba worked all of these into his personality.
But so, apparently, did Shino.
The bug-lover was strong and brave and fearless and everything Kiba liked in a teammate. Shino was loyal to his friends, to the people he wanted to protect, and Kiba made sure he was just as loyal, just as determined, just as dependable to Shino.
Because he trusted Shino in ways he'd never trusted before. He let Shino touch him and taste him and feel him over and over again. He let Shino see places no one had seen before, not even Kiba himself. He relied on Shino to not do things he didn't want, faithful that Shino would be there when he needed someone strong, trustful that Shino wouldn't take his heart and rip it into a hundred thousand million pieces and scatter them in the wind like dust.
Kiba depended on Shino because Shino was everything Kiba was.
Well, except for the playful thing.
