"I have got to go, she's my daughter! What is the problem? I will back before you know it! What do you think I will do? Go off with someone? You know I will never do that!" Duffy flung her arms down in frustration.

"I trust you, it's just someone else…" There was a slight pause as Duffy thought about what Ryan had just said.

"Oh I get it, it's Charlie, isn't it? He is my best friend, I'm not going to do anything to harm our friendship."

"It's not that. It's just… he might try and convince you to stay. You know he wasn't happy you coming here."

"She's my daughter. I have got to go." She said whilst trying to find where gate 9 was. "Anyway, I've got you and the kids to think about and come back to!" She kissed him on the lips as she headed to gate 9. "Bye sweetheart, see you in 2 weeks!"

And with that, she blew him another kiss and vanished into the crowded airport.

"Lucy, can you come in here for a moment please?" Charlie pointed her into his office.

"I am really sorry about yesterday, I shouldn't have gone off on one like that."

"It's Ok. It was understandable. The thing is, I phoned your mum. She is catching the earliest flight possible. So you are really going to meet your real mum."

Lucy just stood there, looking at Charlie in disbelieve. It is actually going to happen, I am actually going to meet her! She thought. She flung her arms around him and pulled him into a tight hug. "Thank you, thank you so much for doing this. I will never forget what you have done for me." Lucy had tears welling up in her eyes. She could see Charlie's were glazing over as well.

"It's alright. Now shh, you will start me going!" he laughed.

The next few days past really slowly as Lucy kept pulling out the only picture she had of her mother. It was getting a bit worn at the edges. The patient's stats rang through her ears as she ran with the stretcher bed down to resus. "Lucy? Lucy are you ok?" asked the paramedic.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." The patient's bag fell off the bed as it carried down the corridor. Lucy left them to it to pick it up. As she bent down to quickly grab it, so did someone else. They both reached for the bag.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Came the voice.

"It's OK, thanks." Lucy replied. She looked into the woman's eyes and noticed her long ginger, blond hair. She recognized her, but didn't have time to think about it, so she turned and ran after the team.

The woman stood there, transfixed to the spot as Charlie walked up behind her.

"I see you have met your daughter then." He said calmly.

A single tear slipped down Duffy's cheek as she simply nodded and flung her arms around her best friend.

"So how have you been?" she asked Charlie as she sat down in his office.

"Oh, you know, the usual. Still single!" Duffy smiled softly. "I shall go and get Lucy. She has been dieing to meet you!"

"Actually Charlie. I need to talk to you first, about her father…"
