Blink

Blink.

Review the past two months.

Remember that he actually laughed at your jokes, smiled at your antics, frowned at your sorrows.

Blink again.

Try to remember to breathe.

Remind yourself that he talked to you openly first, before anybody else. How he came to you for advice, helped you with your demons, and didn't expect any help with his own.

Blink some more.

Keep your mind on track.

You've seen him at his weakest. When his enemies have beaten him badly, but he refuses to go down, bruised and bloody. You've seen him fighting his demons, when his eyes are wide with fear and pain, his open in a silent scream. You've seen him in his element, eyes cool and calm, gun blazing.

Blink, blink, blink….

Realize that he's still there.

Nervously shifting foot to foot, tips of metal fingers twitching, glowing eyes downcast and rapidly losing hope. How long had it been…?

Blink one more time.

Make your decisions.

Reach out and grab his real hand. See his look of surprise, the sudden use of your name.

"Cid.."

Use your other hand to put a finger to his lips.
"I've made my decisions." You mutter. "..I love you too, Vin."

Smile.

Watch his reaction.

Lean forward to steal a kiss….then curse vehemently as the sirens on the Highwind go off.

"We're approaching the Northern Crater, Captain!" you hear the first officer holler.

Glance at him.

See his smile.

"…we have all the time in the world after the battle." He whispers.

Nod.

Make your way up to the bridge.

He's right behind you.
