2016:
A second funeral in as many months, Bruce Wayne thought, stepping off the plane. Officially, he was here in New York on business. Unofficially, he was here for Wildcat's funeral. Had to hand it to the man; of all of them, he wouldn't have thought Ted Grant would die in bed at the age of 100. He'd attended many funerals, but when it came to his colleagues, most of their deaths were of decidedly unnatural causes. Ted had outlived most of his students and all of his first teammates.

After the funeral, he caught up with a few people. Dinah and Ollie's daughter was in the Teen Titans. Ollie's son, nearly ten years older than his half-sister, was in college, but still managed to come. The second Catwoman was doing well, and he suspected she and the second Wildcat had been planning to get married. While she, like her predecessor, still stole, she seemed to enjoy beating security systems, as opposed to Selina's love of jewelry and cold hard cash.
They all looked older- maybe it was just him. Ever since Alfred's death, he'd been trying not to think of how time passed. It seemed like the last link to his past was gone now.
"So," Flash said. "Seems like this is the only way we get to see each other these days."
"I'm sorry about that. Thank you for coming to Alfred's funeral. He always liked you and Clark the best, I think," Bruce replied.
"How are you managing without him?"
"The microwave should not be underestimated."
"I hate to think of you in that big place all alone. I realize you can't sell it, but maybe you should move into another place and operate everything up-top as a museum. Or, heck, run a daycare center out of it."
He gave Flash a look that should've made him wither where he stood.
Flash held up his hands in a conciliatory way. Superman would've given up by now, but Flash was different.
"I'm just saying," he said. "Well, once the twins finish college, Irey will take over my spot, and I'll have a lot more free time. Power Woman's offered me a spot here-want me to ask if she can find something for you?"
"No. Have you seen Clark at all?"
"We came through Metropolis on the way here. Lois just got out of the hospital."
"I hadn't heard anything."
"She had pnuemonia. She's okay now, but there's no way Clark was letting her travel."
"Heard from J'onn?"
"No. Batwing told me that some Tuareg men told him about a green man who lives in the Sahara. That was..two years ago, maybe. Funny how fast time goes these days."
"Yeah, it is," Bruce said.
"Well, I'll see you soon. Be careful out there, okay?" Wally asked.
"Always."
