"Ken-chan…aren't you sleeping yet?" Ao asked her son as she opened the door. Although Ken-ichi's room is already dark he was still wide-awake. Looking outside the window that was near his bed.
"I'm still waiting for Papa, Mama" he replied. Ao went inside and kissed her son's forehead. "You should sleep now darling"
"I couldn't sleep even if I wanted to…Mama…Isn't Papa coming home today?"
"Of course he will darling. Papa had always kept his promises before hasn't he?"
"Uhuh…" Ken-ichi said. A smile had etched on his face. His mother was right His Papa had never broken a promise before. He was always there when he needed him…even on such small occasions. He rested on Ao's lap who was sitting on his bed.
"I wish I could see Papa before I go to sleep." Ken-ichi whispered as he closed his eyes. Ao's hand gently runs through Ken-ichi's red hair, just like his father's. She looked at her son's worried face. She too was worried. Why hasn't Kurama come home yet? One week has passed when he promised to return home today. True he has never broken a promise but what is keeping him. She gazed outside the window.
"Ken-ichi sat up again. He could feel his mother's worry. "Are you worried about Papa too, Mama?"
Ao's hand touched Ken-ichi's face. She smiled, "Of course I am…but…he'll come home soon…don't worry."
He rested his head on her chest. "Mama…"
"Hmm…"
"I love you…and Papa too. I love you both" Ken-ichi said as he buried his face deeper on her chest.
"We love you too…very much" Ao said as she wrapped her hands on the boy. "We love you so much…Ken-ichi"
"I'm glad", he said as he fell asleep. Ao smiled. He is just like his father. Ao thought as she continued to gaze outside. It was autumn and it was a little windy outside.
"He likes this weather," she whispered. She stared at the leaves and slowly she fell asleep.

"… Mama?" Ken-ichi called but his mother was asleep. Just then the door slowly opened. It was Kurama.
"Papa!!" Ken-ichi's little green eyes grow. He was happy to see his Papa at last. Kenichi jumped to embraced Kurama. "Hush, you'd wake your mother"
Kurama sat down near Ao. "She fell asleep waiting for you." Kenichi said.
"I'm sorry"
Ao slowly opened her eyes. "You're back…" she smiled.
"I'm sorry I kept you waiting" Just then the midnight bell rang. "A minute more, Papa and you would have broken your promise." They laughed.
