His Return

Rain fell down across the city
Keeping her awake with every hit
Droplets playing a mournful tune
Along the transparent, crystal glass
A wind tearing through the wet town
Pushed the rain to fall down harder
She shot up in terror, in shock
Moving closer to the window
Touching the pane cold as ice
Resting her hand there lost deep in thought
Wondering, pondering the day of his return
