I'm trying my hand at writing a few SPD one shots. I'm undecided about pairings in SPD, which is a change as I've always been sure with past series'. Enjoy, and please leave a review. They bring my mood back to where it should be.

Tears and Rain

Sydney Drew ran down an SPD corridor as fast as she could, her blonde ringlets flying out behind her. Sobbing, she attempted to wipe away her tears, but they just kept coming. The thought scarred into her mind was too painful to let go of. She just kept running. Passing windows, she barely noticed rain lashing against the glass.

She reached the entrance doors, and pulled them apart. As she slipped through, she ripped her SPD jacket, lined with pink into a puddle and ran still.

Syd stood, her head straining towards the heavens, asking the rain why. Why did he do it? Why did he have to be so insensitive about her feelings? He was always a bit of goof, but she always thought she could count on him.

I guess I was wrong…

Her tears flowed more freely now, and their warmth mixing with the icy rain was refreshing. She began to think more clearly.

Now I think about it, I wouldn't have done it any differently. He's an idiot. A selfish, arrogant idiot…

Breaking her moment of thought were footsteps sounding against the wet ground. Someone was coming.

Syd didn't bother to turn around; she already knew who it was.

An uncomfortable silence followed his arrival.

"Syd?"

She didn't answer.

"Syd, please look at me."

Syd shook her head, still not turning around. "I don't see why I should."

She heard him coming closer.

"I'm so sorry, Syd," he said sincerely.

"You're sorry?" she scoffed, snorting slightly. "After what you did, I don't know if I can ever forgive you!"

"Please Syd, just look at me."

She felt his presence just behind her. He grasped her arm gently and pulled her around to face him. Looking directly at her, with his adorable brown puppy dog eyes was Jack.

Jack felt Syd examine his appearance. He shifted slightly, his hand reaching the back of his dreadlocked head.

"Listen Syd, I know I can't make you forgive me, but at least let me try," he husked. "Let me show you how much I care about you."

Narrowing her eyes, Syd saw the sincerity behind his voice. She nodded slowly.

Giving his hundred watt smile, Jack bent his head towards hers, and captured her lips a kiss. Syd's heart leapt to her throat, and, forgetting all the grief he had caused her, allowed herself to be lost in his tender embrace.

They broke apart, sparks still hanging between them. Her mouth curled into a sweet smile.

"I think that was definitely a start," she gushed.

He laughed at that. She loved his laugh, so carefree.

As if by chance, the rain began to slow, and after a few moments it stopped. Syd looked down at their uniforms; soaked.

This only caused Jack to laugh even more, as he pulled her into a close hug.

I guess tears are all their cracked up to be…
