Prompt #524 from tamingthemuse- Bump and Run
Note: From now on most of my tamingthemuse stories will be named as the challenge.
Xander had known Spike for nine years. Enemies for five of those years, friends for three and lovers for a year. The best year of Xander's life. When they had announced their relationship to the group it was not shocking when they were all confused. Sure they had became friends but how could they be anything more with their past? Willow was the one to actually ask that question. Xander just grinned and replied saying that was their foreplay. That seemed to gross everyone out but they also accepted it.
In those nine years Spike never did anything boring. It was like he didn't have a boring bone in his body. That was until Xander walked into their apartment to find Spike watching golf. He had just come home from a day of unclogging toliets and shower drains at Slayer Central hoping for a nice relaxing night with his vamp watching some action movies filled with lots of guns, explosives and sex while eating pizza with the crust filled with gooey cheese. If that wasn't how you spent date night than Xander Harris didn't know romance!
"Hey baby,"Xander greeted as he set the pizza down on the coffe table. "Did the batteries in the controller die?"
"Nope," Spike answered. His eyes never left the screen as he leaned forward and snagged a piece of the six meat pizza.
Xander went to the kitchen to grab plates, napkins and a couple beers. When he came back out he asked, "did you lose a bet?"
Spike accepted the beer, eyes glued to the television. "No."
The announcer at the golf tournament made a comment about the golfer hitting a perfect bump and run... whatever the hell that was.
"So... you enjoy watching golf for the hell of it?" Xander questioned confused on the situation. Did he enter some sort of parallel universe or something?
With an annoyed sigh Spike finally turned his attention away from the T.V and looked at Xander. "I find it relaxing, okay? After working with those pains in the ass we call slayers all day it's nice to sit back and watch golf. It's nice and boring. I like that."
"Why didn't you tell me you watch?" Xander asked.
"It's embarassing. You weren't supposed to be home for another hour. And when you got home I was to engrossed in it to care," Spike admitted. His eyes shifted from Xander and T.V. "You gonna tell anyone?"
Xander tilted his head as if he were thinking about it. "I'll keep your secret on one condition."
"And what's that, pet?" Spike asked hoping Xander would ask for sexual favours.
"You give me my kiss that I should have gotten ten minutes ago." Xander puckered his lips making himself look like some sort of deformed fish.
Spike wrinkled up his face. He hated when Xander did that! "I will if you bloody well stop doing that!"
Xander grinned and received his bounty. He loved Spike smooches. When the kiss was over he snuggled against Spike with his own pizza in hand and watched the rest of the tournament. Spike was right it was actually pretty relaxing. "You know I wouldn't have told anyone about this, right?"
"I know. Now shut up," Spike said giving Xander a squeeze.
They ended up falling asleep before the tournament was over their heads pressed against each other.
The End
