Blessing

"But he's not you!" she cried, pushing away her pity for the clone in the blue suit behind her. "I fell in love with you, how you are. He's not the same."

The Doctor in brown looked at her sadly, resisting the urge to just kiss her, and answered; "He is-"

"NO!" She interrupted him immediately, not wanting him to lie about that. "He may have your memories and your appearance, but he has some of your personality. He's also part Donna. And that isn't the man I fell in love with." She stared at the Doctor stubbornly, her eyes imploring him to listen to reason.

He caught Donna's eye and she raised an eyebrow at him. Knowing her as much as she knew him – extremely well – he didn't need to guess what she wanted him to do. He still shot a questioning look at the redhead, and was unsurprised when she nodded. "Rose, I-"

He was interrupted again, this time by the metacrisis; "Go." He'd said from his position behind Rose.

The girl turned and felt guilty; there was a man who, apparently, was as in love with her as the real, Time Lord Doctor was. But she couldn't stay with him. "I'm sorry... Doctor?"

He just shook his head with a sad, reluctant smile. "Just John, for now." John made eye contact with the Time Lord and non-verbally gave his blessing, his consent, and the Doctor visibly relaxed.

Rose nodded and turned back to her Doctor, a slightly pleading look on her face. She hugged him and sighed in relief as he returned it tightly. "I missed you."

The Doctor buried his face him her hair, glad to be able to hold her again. "So you're coming?" He pulled away and smiled at her.

"You don't even need to ask."
