"Kevin? Is everything alright?"
Detective Kevin Ryan had just come home from dropping off his brother in-law, Frank.
"Everything is fine." He lied through his teeth, and giving a kiss on Jenny's forehead.
"Babe, I know you're lying. Tell me what's going on."
Ryan told her everything hesitantly. He told her about Frank, Caroline Decker, Alex Lopez, and his feelings about everything that happened.
"I just...I just keep thinking about the fear in her eyes and how she just kept looking at me. I told her everything was going to be alright, but it wasn't."
"Kevin, you did everything you could. It's not your fault. People are crazy and someone was jealous of her. If Lopez treated all of his people right, this would of never had happened. Everything happens for a reason."
"I pulled my gun out on Frank." He confessed, "You did it for a reason. You thought he was the killer and everyone knows that no matter what, you will get justice for those who can't. Kevin, the shooter could have shot you if he wanted too. " Jenny wasn't there, but she had known that he was close to Decker and Lopez and in range of fire.
"I'm sorry."
"Kev, I love you with all my heart and I love you more than life itself. Don't worry about any of this. It's all in the past."
They kissed each other softly.
"How's Sarah Grace?" Ryan asked, "She's fine. I had a tough time putting her to sleep. She might be awake- Let me go check."
This left Ryan to think to himself for a minute. He replayed the scene. The shooter could have shot him if she wanted too.
The thought of him getting shot sent shivers down his spine.
He quickly dismissed the thought to the back of his mind when Jenny came out with Sarah Grace.
"I thought you could use a baby hug." Jenny said with a smile, and Ryan finally felt comforted with his family. Justice was made for Caroline Decker.
