Sweat trickled down Mario's face, as he ran through the lava filled castle. He knew he would have a choice to make, there was no other way. He could save Princess Peach, the woman he loved, or he could save his brother, Luigi. The choice was hard, but it wasn't his to make. For beyond his home, the place known as the Mushroom Kingdom, was another. One of technology, where a man sat on his couch. It was this man's choice, as he controlled the plumber with his friends, for the enjoyment of others and charity. This man had already made his choice.
Luigi.
Mario would loose Peach, all because of this man, and he couldn't do anything about it. Ever since his first adventure, he had been controlled by the people of this world. Now was no different. Though he believed his actions were his own, they never were. As he approached the final door, he was still trying to figure out how to save both, but he never would. There was only one option for Peach, death.
Mario entered the room, ready to save his loved ones, but fate had a different idea. He was horrified when he saw Luigi and Peach dangling over lava, while Bowser was dead on the floor. He looked up to see a masked man in the garb of a jester. Mario recognized this man as one of his former foes.
"Ah ha ha~ How nice to see you again, Mario. Like the reunion of two childhood friends turned enemy," the jester laughed as he floated above Bowser's dead body.
"Dimentio? I thought you died!" Mario yelled at the Master of Dimensions, floating in front of him. "You're supposed to be in the UnderWhere!"
"I was, but now I'm back," Dimentio snapped his fingers and a yellow box appeared around Mario, "and I'm here to get revenge on the four heroes that put me there"
"You can't do this, Dimentio!" Mario beat his fists on the box, trying to break it.
"Ah, but I can~" he prepared to snap his fingers, "Like a tragic story, where the heroes die for the world they protect. Don't worry, you'll be joined by your fellow heroes soon enough. Ciao~"
