Chloe paused before pushing the door open, soft sobs echoing through the wood. Quietly she slipped into the room, concern etched onto her features. As she saw the source of the cries she stopped, shocked. Beca lay on her bed, sobbing, her eyes tightly shut. After hearing the door open her eyes snapped up. Panic laced her face as she took in the redhead in front of her but Chloe simply moved forward and wrapped Beca in a tight embrace.
Beca tensed, not allowing herself to be comforted by the ginger. She harshly pushed Chloe off her and wiped her eyes. She glanced at Chloe but immediately looked down when she saw the hurt in her eyes.
"Beca, I…"
Beca cut her off, ice lacing her tone "Go away Chloe."
"Beca. Please."
"I need you to leave" Beca still refused to look at her.
"No. You've been pushing me away for long enough now." Her voice cracked.
"I need some space; I don't want you around at the moment."
Chloe paused, "Have I done something wrong?"
Beca looked at her then, she saw the tired slump in the usually perky stance, she saw her eyes rimmed with red, and she saw all the hurt she had given her friend.
"I…..You haven't done anything wrong…I just….I…."
"Then what is it Beca, I need….I need my best friend back."
The freshman slowly made her way over to Chloe.
"I was scared, Chlo" she said softly. Chloe lightly pulled Beca towards her, once again embracing the brunette. "Of what?" she whispered.
"You"
Chloe pulled back, looking into Beca's eyes.
"I don't… why on earth would you be afraid of me?"
Confusion enveloped the redhead; she didn't understand what could have made her Beca feel this way.
"Not of you…more of the feelings I have when I'm around you…..."
Chloe's breath hitched in her throat.
"I thought that by pushing you away I could get over you. But I was wrong about that, I have fallen for you even more."
Chloe opened her mouth but Beca put her finger to her lips.
"I know what you're going to say. I know you will probably want nothing to do with me from now on but I can't deny what I'm feeling. I am in love with you, Chloe Beale." Tears tracked down her face as Beca turned abruptly, moving towards the door. Before she could get a grip on the handle gentle hands landed on her hips and she was spun around to face her favourite redhead.
Chloe looked at her with love filled eyes and an infectious smile. "I love you too, Beca Mitchell."
She pulled Beca forward and their lips gently met. The kiss was slow and passionate, sharing the love the two were confessing. When they eventually had to break for air Beca pulled back and rested her forehead against Chloe's. "I'm sorry for pushing you away."
"Promise me you'll never push me away again"
Beca smiled and nodded.
