"Tom Riddle overhears a conversation between Pofessor Dumbledore and one of his fellow classmates"
"Professor, I don't mean any offense, but I don't see how that plan could work at all." The only response Tom heard to the mysterious girl's concern was a familiar chuckle.
"What's Dumbledore up to now?" He snuck closer to the end of the corridor, hoping to catch more of the conversation, but it seemed he had caught the tail end of the conversation as the only sound her heard was foot steps walking in the directions of the transfiguration classroom. It was only one set of footsteps however, meaning the other half of the conversation hadn't left yet.
"Well let's see who he's scheming with now." Straightening his posture and schooling his expression into his regular one of nonchalance, the dark haired 7th year walked around the corner heading to where he had heard the voices. There he saw a brown-haired girl sitting on the sill of the window, deep in thought. She wasn't wearing a school uniform, which was unusual considering classes weren't over for the day. She didn't look familiar either, and Tom prided himself on knowing everyone in their 6th and 7th year, and he didn't believe she could be any younger than that. Making a note to himself to dig more into this later, Tom strode past the strange girl and continued his way to charms, not noticing the conflicted look the girl had given him as he passed.
"Professor I've told you, I can't do this. Can't you find someone else?"
It was that girl again. Despite spending all his free time the last week attempting to find out more about her, there was no proof anywhere in the castle that she existed. And there was nothing Tom hated more than not knowing about someone.
"There is no one else who could complete this task half as well as you could, I assure you." The girl seemed like she was going to respond.
"Bu- "Her response was cut off as once again the sound of the transfiguration professor walking away echoed through the corridor. The girl grumbled something to herself as she too started walking down the corridor, heading in his direction. Not being able to pass up the opportunity to try and learn something about her, Tom started walking in the direction she was coming from, placing himself in her path so she inevitably bumped into him.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't see you the- "She stopped abruptly when she looked up and saw who he was.
"Not a problem, I wasn't watching where I was going" He put on his most charming smile when he met her brown eyes. "I don't think I've seen you around before. I'm Tom Riddle" Her eyes darted quickly from his face to his outstretched hand before she quickly spun around and sped off in the opposite direction, mumbling something to herself under her breath. It seemed she had heard of him, and if her response was any indication it wasn't any good.
"What are you up to now Dumbledore?"
"Professor I'm not doing this anymore. I can't. He looks so… human."
"Hermione, its important you remember what he has done, and what you were sent here to do."
So her name was Hermione, it wasn't much information, but it was more than what he had known previously. But now there was a new question in his head on what her apparent task here was, and who this person was who looked too human. He waited until her heard Dumbledore leave again before striding to where the voices were. He would uncover the mystery of this Hermione girl if it was the last thing he did.
Ill be honest, I'm not sure what I'm doing with this story, I'm planning at least one more chapter but it may be longer who knows. Anyways let me know what you think
