Welcome to the random overly short story I wrote instead of focusing. I've been watching too many Miraculous Ladybug speedpaints...
The night was beautiful, but all he could see was her, navigating her way across rooftops in front of him. She swung through the air with such grace, her body bending and swaying with every movement of the yo-yo string. She let out a high pitched laugh, and he couldn't help but smile. Her laugh always did that to him. The sound was just too beautiful a melody to have ringing in his ears to not smile every time he heard it. There was no sound in existence that could ever compare to her laugh in his mind. If only… He let out a sigh.
"Hey Chat! Hurry up!" She called back to him. He could hear the grin in her voice, even without being able to see it. He wished he could see it. Why wouldn't he, when he knew her smile would always shine brighter than the sun?
"Of course my lady!" He said, dropping into a mocking bow. Launching forward onto all fours, Chat Noir ran after Ladybug with a toothy grin. His eyes never left the form of the spotted superheroine. His grin faded into a soft smile as Ladybug turned back to their path across the city ahead of them. She was so beautiful; now and always. The light of both the city below and the moon above made her body look ethereal. She practically glowed. Her silhouette was unmistakable from the city below them. As the citizens down beneath them knew well, his dark shadow was never far behind.
His heart ached. If only she saw him the way he saw her… She was the best thing that had ever happened to him. He just wished he could show her that. He wished he could show her everything that she meant to him. He'd known for a long time just how deeply he loved her, but the words were always stuck in his mouth when he'd try to say them. He knew she didn't return his feelings.
However much he wanted to change how she felt, things just were how they were. He wouldn't give up on his feelings. He could never do that. For now, however, he was content with this. As long as he had her in his life, he knew he could be. Life with her, even as just a friend, would always be better than even the idea of an existence without having known this amazing girl.
The moon shone down on the two superheros as they continued their journey through the night. One was never without the other, just as it was always meant to be.
The night was beautiful, but to him she was the even more beautiful.
