Rune Factory 4: Runes In the Air

Prologue:

They were gathered in the Great Hall of the castle. The entire town had gathered to see if the rumors were true. None of them had believed it when Kiel had come rushing into Porcoline's Kitchen with the news. As they stared at the empty dais, they realized the truth. Ventuswill was gone.

No one spoke above a hushed whisper. At the base of the dais, Frey was on her knees, crying. Volkanon knelt next to her and held her, using his shoulder to muffle her sobs as his own tears fell onto her pale green hair.

After several minutes, Vishnal swallowed hard and stepped forward to face the townsfolk. "Please, return to your homes," he said in an unsteady voice. "There's nothing any of us can do here, and the Princess deserves some time alone."

Little by little, the crowd dwindled as the citizens of Selphia did as he asked, returning to their homes in order to discuss this unexpected turn of events. Soon, only Frey and her friends were left.

Kiel was the first to break the silence. "What are we going to do?"

Leon put a hand on the boy's shoulder. "Vishnal's right. There's nothing we can do right now, except take care of Frey."

"I'm fine," Frey insisted as she tried to wipe away her tears. Volkanon helped her get to her feet.

Meg came to stand next to her and put an arm around her. "It's alright, Frey. We all know that you were closer to Ventuswill than any of us. Now come on. You're exhausted and need to rest." She looked at the others. "I'll take her to her room and stay with her."

As she led Frey down the hall, the remaining people looked at the empty dais, then at each other. The same thought was in everyone's head.

What would they do without Venti?
