"But what if he laughs at me?" Marinette asked Alya frantically.
Alya, having heard a million other questions and excuses, sighed. "Didn't you already ask that? Like, fifty questions ago?"
Marinette shook her eyes. "No. That question was 'Do you think he would tell his friends about me and make fun of me?'" Marinette's voice picked up speed and she grabbed her head in panic.
Alya calmly pulled Marinette's hands down. "Ah yes. To which I replied that Adrien is a nice guy and wouldn't do something like that." Alya looked into Marinette's eyes sternly. "Marinette, none of these things are going to happen. Adrien is a nice guy. He wouldn't laugh at you, he wouldn't make fun of you to his friends and he most certainly wouldn't throw a pie in your face." Marinette sheepishly scratched the back of her head at that last point. She had expressed her concerns to Alya soon after she had had a dream about Adrien and...there was something about clown school.
Alya turned back to her phone, logging into the LadyBlog. Marinette stared at the ground in front of her.
Alya was getting tired of her, Marinette could tell. But there were a lot of things that could happen. She was planning on asking Adrien, once again, if he would like to get a smoothie after school tomorrow. Every time she tried, her mind would jump to the worst possible conclusion.
As Marinette thought about it, the most likely situation would pop up. She hadn't wanted to ask Alya, though, in case she couldn't give her an obvious answer.
"Alya?" Marinette said, quietly.
"Mhmm?" Alya's eyes were still on her phone, texting rapidly.
"What if..." Marinette felt her eyes well up a tad. "What if he says no?"
Alya stopped typing. She turned to look at Marinette, sensing that this was a more serious question. She glanced at Marinette's bluebell eyes and instantly realized she was going to cry.
"Hey hey." Alya put an arm around Marinette, using a calming voice. "He's not going to say no."
"But what if he does?"
Alya shook her head, refusing to hear Marinette's words. "If you start preparing for rejection, then you are going to get rejection. You have to be prepared for him to say yes."
Marinette pondered that for a moment. "Well, I-I guess that's true..."
"Of course it's true girl!" Alya said. "I wouldn't give you advice if it wasn't true."
Marinette pondered that a moment before smiling."Thanks Alya."
