Arm Candy

Disclaimer: I don't own PJO, but you already knew that, hopefully.

It was nearly June, and all Percy could think about was the summer; he wondered how different a summer of camp would be now that he and Annabeth were going out through the whole summer, rather than just the last few weeks.

Percy was laying on his stomach on his bed, head resting in his left hand as he doodled on his Trigonometry homework with his right. Suddenly he felt the faint gathering of mist near his face that signaled an oncoming Iris message. He looked up and grinned, seeing his girlfriend of 10 months on the other end. Annabeth smiled back at him. "Hey Seaweed Brain."

"Hey yourself, Wise Girl."

Annabeth was worrying her dad's college ring absentmindedly, her bottom lip caught between her teeth. "What's wrong, Wise Girl?"

She looked up, startled, as if she hadn't realized that he knew her well enough to read her body language (he mentally snorted; he'd been able to read these particular signs since he was 12). "Oh, well, here's the thing. My school's having a stupid dance thing, and we're all allowed to take guys from other schools to make up for that ours is an all-girls school."

Percy thought he liked where this was going, but he had to make sure. Plus, it was her school's dance; he couldn't exactly be the one to ask her, now could he? "And...?"

"And, I need a piece of Arm Candy to show off to my friends for the night, someone that will make them stop pestering me about this mysterious boyfriend that they all think I'm so obsessed with."

Percy grinned like a kid on christmas morning. He fluidly rose into a kneeling position on his bed and started bouncing up and down, his arm stuck up in the air. "Ooh, ooh! Pick me! Pick me!"

Annabeth rolled her eyes and muttered, "Such a Seaweed Brain," but she had an amused sparkle in her eyes, and her lips were twitching upward. Louder, she said, "Fine, Seaweed Brain. Will you be my date?"

Percy settled down and put on a mock-thoughtful face. "Hmm, I don't know, I'll have to check my schedule."

Annabeth huffed and mock-glared at him, which he returned with a sincere smile. "I'd love to go with you, Wise Girl."

Annabeth smiled. "Good."
