Ron wasn't speaking to Harry, and he was envious that Hermione was spending all her time locked up in a classroom with him, probably helping him with the First Task. He hated seeing them together, even if they were just studying. Sure, she spent time with him too, but it was so obvious she preferred his company. Lost in his thoughts, he almost didn't notice Hermione walking up to him "Why are you not helping your best friend?" she accused him.

"He's not much of best friend" Ron growled.

She gave him a very angry look and nearly yelled, "Don't you see that he could die?"

Ron raised his eyebrows. "He knew what he signed up for."

She was yelling now. "How do you know that he signed up for this?"

"Look," he tried to calm her down "I know you're on his side, so why are you wasting your time here with me?"

"What sides?! I am not on anyone's side!"

Ron rolled his eyes. "Then why aren't you telling him to come talk to me?" he demanded.

She dropped her voice. "You don't think I have tried that? He said he will talk to you as soon as you talk to him"

"Well tell him the feeling is mutual."

"Do I look like an owl?" She walked away. ...And now Hermione was mad at him... why did she bother even talking to him

Hermione sitting in the common room in her favorite seat reading

Ron came up to her. "I'm sorry." he told her

Hermione looked up at him "Will you go and talk to Harry now?"

He shook his head. "But will you still talk to me? The way you do with him?"

She closed her book. "Ron, I'll talk to you but you have to talk to him soon… " He gulped, but nodded, hoping she'd believe him. he sat down next to her. "Well? What do you want to talk about?"

"I miss you, Hermione" he said softly

"I missed you too..." She wondered if she should hug him.

"How's be been?" Ron asked

"Good, but nervous. How have you been?" Hermione asks

"You'd bloody know if you talked to me once in a while.." Ron muttered

She stood up, she was about to leave again. "It's not like you we're talking to me either!"

"You were always with him! Hermione please don't go!" She sat back down, but she was obviously still angry.

"I was worried about him." He nodded slowly. "I would do the same if it was you" she whispered

"That's true..." he agreed slowly "But, it'll never be me."

"And Harry would trade places with you If he could " she said

Ron sighed. "Let's just agree to disagree on that."

"Okay" she agreed slowly. He looked at her and sighed before getting up and walking away. He really did miss her.
