BANG.

Alarms blare.

Caitlin and Ronnie argue about whether or not Ronnie's going to go with Cisco to manually shut down the particle accelerator. Ronnie ends it by saying that he has to go and kisses his fiancée one last time before following Cisco.

I begin to evacuate S.T.A.R. Labs. People flood through the halls, orderly and casual, still chatting about how the accelerator's going to change the world for the better.

BANG.

The next bang changed their minds, sending them scrambling, pushing, and shoving in their rush to the doors marked by the exit signs. A man in a lab coat knocked a woman next to him out of the way, sending her sprawling. Luckily, another woman behind her pulled her up and out of the building.

Cisco's frantic voice comes over the intercom, begging Caitlin to come down. She disappears out the door of the Cortex.

I fiddle with various controls, trying desperately to prevent the entire building from exploding, and demand everyone else out of the Cortex.

BANG.

Lights flicker. This one comes with a shock wave that is strong enough to knock me to the ground. I jump to my feet as Caitlin and Cisco run into the room.

I start to ask where Ronnie is but trail off after seeing the look on their faces. I know where he is. The situation at hand takes priority, my brain filing away the information into the 'process later' pile. Cisco declares the accelerator shut off, although the danger of more aftershocks is still a threat. I suggest that we go through the Lab to see if anyone is still there. Cisco seems all for it but Caitlin insists that we leave straight away. She relents after a brief argument. and we search through the systematic hallways. We don't find anyone.

We double back through the now-empty hallways to the main entrance.

Cisco and Caitlin wait for me at the door, while I lag behind a few steps.

BANG.

I push my co-workers, friends, out of the way just in time, as the shock wave sends the ceiling tumbling down on me. My world grows blindingly bright before becoming pitch dark.
