Growth
The cloudless sky, baring a hue similar to pink lemonade, cradled the rising morning sun. The bright orange cast light upon the world, smacking away the shadows of the night. The pond glistened, and its surface rippled as tiny little colorful fish danced in its depths. The larger ones, the scales dark as midnight, lurked at the very bottom of their little habitat.
There was something unnatural at the shallow end of the small body of water. The creature's species had evolved so rapidly, making new advancements to prevent death and illness. However, in the race to perfection, they had allowed countless others of their kind to die by starvation and war. They were caring only when they chose to be, paid no attention to the damage they caused the earth. Each and every soul was dirty, tainted, by the sins of their forefathers.
However, this one was different. She carried herself proudly, heart untainted by evil. In her violet eyes gleamed an indescribable emotion, one that showed her maturity of a member of her race. She had no desire to hurt others, no plan to harm the planet. Unlike the many others that came before her, she was the only one who remained pure.
Squall observed the young ninja dipping her naked feet into the glittering pond. The wind rustled her hair gently, as if the spirits themselves were the ones doing the action. The sight, so serene, was enough to leave him desiring something more. She was no longer a child, but a woman. Should he ever get the courage to admit his feelings, she shall listen patiently, hyperactivity disappearing.
Or, perhaps, should she ever admit any feelings for him...He would be glad the wait was over.
