Gone. Everything was gone. Toothania's seemingly infinite sense of hopelessness crushed her. You would imagine that a feeling like that, that sort of emptiness, wouldn't feel like that. But it did.
As much as she was enormously upset, though, she was also desperate; desperate for revenge on that horrible Pitch. Yeah, sure, the tooth fairy was known for being sweet and generous. But no one, no one, could mess with her fairies (and her palace. And the teeth.) and get away with it. To put it simply, that was not okay with her. Her fairies were like her thousands of tiny little babies. She loved each and every one of them and knew them all by name. So when Jack came back with little Baby Tooth, she was thrilled beyond imagining. One, just one, had gotten past the Nightmares. And that was enough to give her hope.
Jack. Toothania wasn't all too sure how she felt about him. One minute he was just the new Guardian. She had accepted him, but hadn't altogether trusted him given the dire situation. And now… he'd brought back Baby Tooth. Surely that could force some sort of trust in him into her. But it was more than that. Something she hadn't felt since she became a Guardian. Tooth shrugged it off. Nothing. Nothing more than a fleeting thought which she couldn't quite grab onto, something that would bug her for a while until she completely forgot that it had even happened. There was nothing more to it.
Nothing more to it, Tooth forced the thought into her mind like medicine; bitter on her tongue, but good for her. Something she needed. She didn't want to believe it, but she had to. There were far more important things to worry about at the moment. Jack wasn't one of them.
